I have been working at Nsk Steering Systems America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Professional and fun atmosphere. Everyone seems happy to come to work each day. Great benefits and very competitive salary. HR and other supporting groups seem very helpful and always make time. Very ego and drama free.

    Cons

Accrual of sick/PTO time is a little slow as a new employee. Room to improve on time to begin health insurance benefits (nearly 60 days for me).

    Advice to Management

N/A. I think I've found the best manager I've had in 20 years of the auto industry.

I have been working at Nsk Steering Systems America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

good pay, average benefits, The pay is good for the area but should be higher, the insurance has a high deductible and quite a few things are not covered

    Cons

Treat people poorly , pay should be more, the turnover rate is extreamly high, because of managements uncaring attiude, way to much overtime and weekend work.

    Advice to Management

Start treating your people better, think about how much you would like working 3 or more months without a day off, also increase the pay 2-3 dollars more an hour

Reconsider whom is given team lead and lead team tech positions, many are not leader material.

    Pros

    Plenty of hours. Great pay.

    Cons

Advancement opportunities. They hire new before they promote and train from within

    Advice to Management

Promote from full time employees before hiring temps or out sourcing

    Pros

Good pay for the area. Very clean and very well organized. Safety oriented.

    Cons

This is not coming from a disgruntled employee, I left NSK voluntarily on good terms. Human Resources seems to be very power hungry. They rarely promote from within. Instead of promoting a current employee, they'll often hire from an outside source. It's all about who you know at NSK. I've seen an employee who was employed for less than a year start at an entry level position be promoted to a Team Leader/Supervisor, because his uncle played golf with the production manager; all while there where other employees that had more seniority and qualifications not be considered. Very little support for women that become pregnant during employment. Just like most corporations, product comes first, employees come last.

    Advice to Management

Consider employee moral. Promote those that deserve it, not those that you know.

I worked at Nsk Steering Systems America part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The chance to get more factory experience and get better with my learning skills. I always thought of myself as a working man so i want to have a good factory job

    Cons

Down time makes you get behind and have to work over time. machines kept breaking down almost on a weekly basis

    Advice to Management

I know all factories have their problems with machines but i think if the factory had better equipment or tools, things would progress

I worked at Nsk Steering Systems America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good money for area and easy work if your fast and follow directions.

    Cons

Management plays favorites. Production is full of drama. Not much downtime. Can lose job for smallest reason if you catch attention of HR. Hiring manager is actually Firing manager. Posibly has firing quota.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting your good workers go and let go of the slackers and suck-ups. Maybe worry more about actions and less about rumors and lies people spread.
