    I worked at Nucor-Berkeley

    Pros

Good pay, Great people. Use to be a great place to work

    Cons

When GM left around 2008 he was replaced by a moron who doesn't care about the employees. Home office (CEO, COO, etc..) care more about stock holders than employees. Founder of Nucor is greatly missed

I have been working at Nucor-Berkeley full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

4on/4off schedule. Co-workers are pretty good to work with. Money is decent.

    Cons

Upper Management promotes the brownnosers no matter how incompetent they are. It does not matter one bit if you are a good worker or not. If you do not suck up you won't get promoted. It also seems to be policy now to run off the veterans as they cost to much to keep as they have a lot of vacation, and cost to much in insurance.

I have been working at Nucor-Berkeley full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

4 on 4 off schedule (when fully staffed), above average pay, non-union, great work culture in most areas, great location, profit sharing, decent but not great medical benefits

    Cons

lean management hieracrchy therefore limited room for advancement unless you're willing to go to the middle of nowhere, rarely fully staffed so your working a lot of OT with a small amount of off time to turn around in between shifts, no real training just OJT, 401k matching is a small fraction of each dollar, responsible for 33% of total medical bill (in-network), %50 (out-of-network)

I have been working at Nucor-Berkeley full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very positive work culture with lots of empowerment from upper management. Unlimited scope of developing creative solutions and seeing them through implementation. A workaholics dream job. Personal growth can only be limited due to lack of initiative.

    Cons

Work expectations make it difficult to strike a work life balance. Poor vacation and time off benefits. Have to relocate to get promoted.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Nucor-Berkeley for less than a year

    Pros

Real hands on experience. You will be given a project and expected to hit the ground running. Your co-workers will help you with anything you ask and never be afraid to ask a question that you do not know the answer to. The company is centered around safety and you realize this the moment you drive up to the gate.

    Cons

It is a harsh environment to work in and you will be required to sweat. You will not receive a lot of guidance as far as what to do but sometime the freedom is nice.

I have been working at Nucor-Berkeley full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great pay. Great benefits. Will pay for you to go to school while you're an employee. Care about employee safety. Have a lot of employee benefit programs. Room to advance. No fear of layoff. No union which allows more production.

    Cons

Hard work. Takes a toll on your body. Like any job some people are willing to step on people to get to the top. Because it's a great job within a well respected company they have ultra high expectations. This is good but sometimes it means they leave no room for legitimate employee issues to be handled in a way that helps an employee out. The person who left the 1 star negative review I believe was in my department. They gave a lot to the company but lost touch with reality. They became bitter and ended up becoming a cancer in our department. Once the cancer was removed our whole department improved.
