    Pros

-Culture. Such a cliche term, but the people here are genuinely good people, working together to disrupt the IT industry. Not a cut throat environment, we’re all pushing in the same direction.

-Challenge. If you love to be stretched, challenged, trusted, pushed to your limit then you’ll thrive in this company.

-Compensation. Pay is competitive, benefits are covered 100%, stock and ESPP give an added bump.

-Management. There are some really good managers and mentors at Nutanix, if you’re aligned to them then you’ll love your job. The executive leadership of the company is 2nd to none.

    Cons

-Culture. If you want structure, clear growth paths, to move up the chain quickly and your value is based on your title and praise... we’re not there yet. Everyone is so focused on getting the work done that we don’t spend a lot of time on employee recognition and development. Career growth and development are pushed by HR but their not structured or adopted enough to be mainstream.

-Challenge. The fast pace and demand is not for the light hearted. If you thrive in that type of environment you’ll be happy here.

-Management. There are a lot of team managers who are stronger individual contributors than they are managers. Advice: really do your homework on who you’ll be reporting to and what their management style is.

    Advice to Management

Take a pause and really look at the organizational structure and health of it. An internal audit and development of management skills would be a good exercise to go through. Many are leaving the company or are frustrated at work because of difficult managers.

I have been working at Nutanix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Industry leader, recognized by Gartner and Forrester as the undisputed leader. Global Sales Leadership Team has some of the best and brightest, and proven sales executives who deliver results. Engaged Senior Leadership Team who practice what they preach, (12 Culture Principles). Strong Product line. Superior Engineering Team with proven track record of success.

    Cons

The company has a small gap when it comes to establishing clear policies, procedures and protocols for the Sales Team. (Segmentation, Sales Quota, etc) However it recognizes the gap exists and the C-Suite appears to be working on long-term solutions.

    Advice to Management

You've got the Company Growth Accelerator pressed down to the floor. Recognize that sometimes you'll need to back-off a bit to take a curve or manage a pot hole.

I have been working at Nutanix full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great pay
    Free lunches
    Great product
Nice and hard working people from the director level and below
    Unlimited PTO

    Cons

Some of the new executive team in both marketing and sales are disconnected from the rest of the company. A majority of the sales team are not hitting their numbers and the marketing structure needs a refresh. As the company grows, the resources are starting to diminish but the demands continue to grow.

    Advice to Management

Try a little harder at keeping the great people around instead of driving them out. Company culture is the core to happy employees and the overall morale has been down lately. There is not a good view of the HR department from a majority of the company. HR lacks communication, direction and relationship with their respected teams in marketing. The hiring process is not fluid and has caused prospective talent to take other opportunities over Nutanix. These issues must be addressed and fixed if you want to retain the existing talent.

    Pros

The leadership team is best in the business! I genuinely like almost everyone I've met at the office and can honestly call most of my coworkers friends. Free lunch every day and work celebration parties are super fun. Lots of opportunities to learn and grow at this hypergrowth company.

    Cons

Unlimited PTO creates uncertainty about how many days is ok to take off. Everyone is always online and its hard to disconnect after work hours.

I have been working at Nutanix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Disruptive and ambitious technology. There are some amazing people here, but many have been driven out or left. Some semblance of greatness still exists in what was once a truly remarkable workplace.

    Cons

Fear-driven leadership. Any past achievements or contributions have been long forgotten. Great leaders and innovators are driven out for going against the grain, made examples of. When times are tough, there must be a sacrificial lamb. Blame is put on dedicated workhorses, not the decision makers who are paid unconscionable sums of money. How unfortunate our loyalists are the ones with the highest threshold for shouldering blame.

No interest in retrospection or cultural improvement. A culture silenced by the same leader who once encouraged employees to speak freely and share ideas. Those who have spoken up have paid dearly for it. Do not make the mistake of speaking up without anonymity.

    Advice to Management

Filter the reviews to San Jose, CA, home to most employees and almost all of upper management. Once a 4.8 is now a 3.7, dropping like a rock. Imagine how bad things are to decline that rapidly.

Read the reviews of politics, favoritism, scapegoating, and disrespect. It stems from the top down at HQ. Wall Street has turned you blood-thirsty and against everyone who has worked so hard to help build a successful enterprise. It’s a sad sight to see.

Treat HR and IT with respect, rather than turning the company against us. We have been so dedicated yet always blamed and treated as dispensable.

Stop your elitist meetings, deciding whose fault it is for economic turbulence. Stop blaming your employees for your decisions that didn't materialize. Instead be transparent and honest through communication. Hold yourselves accountable for hard times the way you bask in your own glory when things are good. Practice what you preach to the company about values and principles and empathy.

    Pros

    great technology
would be great if you are young and looking to prove yourself as a young or less experienced rep
company promotes from within, perhaps too much

    Cons

    sales culture is broken
very small percentage of reps making plan (<30%) yet company makes its number
company has over hired - your greatest single determiner of success is what patch you get
company is running too fast to get to an artificial number

    Advice to Management

    sales morale is very low
you want your sales team motivated, not struggling to keep up
    you have confused your salesforce

I worked at Nutanix (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is one of the best products I have ever sold and is very transformational

    Cons

Incredibly toxic culture with very little value and support of the sales force. There is next to no sales leadership, transparency, or talent at the top that recognizes and mentors the sales force.

    Advice to Management

Do what you say, and say what you do. You have many many cliches and mantras but you don't follow a single one of them. For example; Hungry, Humble, Honest. I didn't see an ounce of any of this.
