I have been working at NxStage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - work with experts - great management - fascinating technology - contribute to impact on day 1

    Cons

    - part of a larger company so not sure if that will impact the current culture - in any safety critical software environment, there can be (rightly so) a lot of documentation

I have been working at NxStage full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I cannot think of a single pro about working here except it's a paycheck.

    Cons

It's been almost a year since the Fresenius merger and I'm now on the job market as are many other employees at this truly immature and dysfunctional company. I expected Fresenius to come in and fix things and clean house, but it's still NxStage - a healthcare company that attracts and hires sick people. If you accept a job here be sure to get a prescription for a strong anti-depressant and Adderall so you can fit in with the rest of the folks here. Every manager/director has condescending attitudes, dysfunctional habits, and micro-management techniques. A culture of disrespect, drama, and gossip.

I worked at NxStage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Really good training regimen.

    Cons

If you are considering this position please be ready to be micro managed! Co-workers will throw you under the bus with any chance to. Also there is not any recognition to the department. Lastly the scheduling is the worst. They will find every excuse to make you work and employees have to resort to calling out to get a day off.

I have been working at NxStage

    Pros

People at the individual contributor level are generally awesome and easy to work with. Still has a startup feel despite the acquisition with Fresenius...although that may change over time.

    Cons

There are two major challenges here; communication and micromanagement. When it comes to communication, the right information never gets to the right individuals. Not sure if people are intentionally keeping information to themselves or if people are over allocated and are not being effective. As for micromanagement, this is something very prominent here. Managers need to know every detail of every project and need to be involved in every decision on those projects. Project teams are constantly challenged instead of empowered and more often than not, projects tend to spin instead of making progress.

I worked at NxStage full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The cycle helps people stay at home. It is a pretty decent machine, comparatively. Vacation was good before the merger. Now, not so good.

    Cons

Micromanaged about the smallest thing and information is constantly withheld , as if the smallest thing is a big secret that can’t be trusted outside of the clique.
