I have been working at Nytec full-time

    Pros

Nytec is a great place to work! It is fun to work around people who really enjoy what they are doing and know that they are influencing the tech world. The work schedule is flexible and everyone is super friendly and nice.

    Cons

You are given the flexibility to manage your own schedule so if you are someone who needs to be managed and isn't a self starter then it may not be the right fit.

I have been working at Nytec full-time

    Pros

You might get a weekend to yourself. You can work a 40 hour work week but don't expect to have your job for long. You can take a vacation, but if you don't use your PTO hours before the end of the year you will loose them and you won't get paid out. If you manage to actually take a vacation you will be resented by all of those directors who expect you to be at their beck and call late at night, weekends and even holidays.

    Cons

Under paid, under valued, work life balance is very biased towards work without any reward or acknowledgement of sacrifices. Get ready for weekly fire drills where projects are poorly planned and executed. Almost more directors of this and that department than there are employees. Almost every project is under bid, over promised and at risk and guess who has to work extra hours to pull up that slack, yeah that's right you! All the while you are still under paid and under valued. Everyone gets sick there, because everyone fears not being at work and the misguided perception of a slacker if one were to be too sick to work. You may start out loving your job and going to work to get your batteries recharged, but before too long you will dread the start of the week and need to recharge your batteries at home in order to make it through the week. Yes this all sounds terrible, it is all true and it is getting worse. My advice to you, don't get too comfortable.

    Advice to Management

I hope you have a life boat on that sinking ship. Pun intended!

I worked at Nytec (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has been around a long time and their respect within the Microsoft community is very good. They have two very different businesses. For technical jobs they have consulting, primarily at Microsoft, and full time employment primarily in Kirkland. Not necessarily a pro, but worth knowing. They have great benefits / perks for consulting work.

    Cons

It feels like management keeps changing their minds about things that affect employees. Its understood changes need to be made, but communication is poor. Sometimes it felt like they were shooting from the hip. Inconsistent.

Those employed in the Kirkland office are no more secure than any contractor/consultant. Its project work. No project - no work.
