    I worked at O'Neil & Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits packages well-explained. Employer-owner benefits are generous despite requiring 6 years to become vested.

    Cons

Poor HR department, unclear business process for certain job titles. Healthcare package is also poor. Satellite offices receive little support.

    Advice to Management

Improve HR communication. Complaints often go unanswered.

    I worked at O'Neil & Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Stable company. Good benefits. Flexible work/life balance. A great place for former industrial, manufacturing, mechanical people.

    Cons

Slow growth, slow promotions, employee development and training not a priority. Poor organization and execution.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at other more successful companies in your industry to grow and compete well in a modern industry.

I have been working at O'Neil & Associates full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits have improved over the last year with better insurance, 401 (k), and a stock option plan. Vacation time is good and rolls over - these are all really good benefits to me. I enjoy going to work every day, the office is nice and the people are pleasant. There are pretty flexible hours and they work with you on what you need.

    Cons

Some managers have been with the company for a very long time and they could use some new blood in upper management.

    Advice to Management

hire outside talent in upper management at some time to get new blood in the company.

I worked at O'Neil & Associates (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is pretty good, and the work environment is decent. They have a nice building in Miamisburg. Benefits are so-so.

    Cons

Management is dysfunctional at best. They cannot make timely decisions and do not work and play well with other staff members. The whole place is very clique-y and political. If you are liked by management, you'll do well. BEWARE if you cross them, or speak an unpopular opinion.

    Advice to Management

Treat people as colleagues instead of commodities, and improve your decision making process. Learn to delegate and trust that your employees are as invested in the success of your company as you are.

    I have been working at O'Neil & Associates full-time

    Pros

The company has a flexible work schedule and first line supervisors usually allow employees the ability to take off when needed.

    Cons

Possibly one of the worst managed businesses I have ever seen. Management has no clue how to motivate an employee, their actions are huge de-motivators. They lack knowledge of general business practices and the new management is now micromanaging the staff, unless you are one of "his" buddies. Most of the employees I know are very dissatisfied with the job. The pay is mediocre but the job flexibility keeps them here. I once heard an upper level manager and a project manager comment that they knew people wouldn't leave because they can't get a better job. This really showed me how management sees their employees.

    Advice to Management

Take a class on management. Learn that you are hurting the employees. Maybe hire some people with an education so they can teach you how to treat people.

    I worked at O'Neil & Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

O'Neil offers good pay, so-so benefits, and mostly nice people to work with. They are a privately owned small-medium company with lots of military work. If you are used to DoD work, they are a good place to gain experience.

    Cons

They have a high turnover rate, and relatively disfunctional management staff. Open communication is frowned upon. Highly structured and political atmosphere, especially for such a small company. If you have the right friends within the company, you will go farther.

    Advice to Management

Lighten up and judge people by their work product. You should encourage professional development and growth in the lower ranks, instead of treating them like pawns in your personal "game of thrones."

    Pros

Great people to work along side from HQ, Camber, & TACOM
    Interesting manual content for revision
    Very relaxed working environment
Small office in quiet residential neighborhood (building was a former elementary school)

    Cons

Learning the provisioning side was like learning a difficult foreign language
Health insurance offerings are / were below average

    Advice to Management

    Keep the work coming in!

    Pros

Project driven. Good for honing programming or organizational skills. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Not good for long term employment. Upper management is dysfunctional. Lots of politics.

Current Employee - Applications Engineer in Dayton, OH

    Pros

Projects can be challenging and interesting while working for this company that offers work for defense and commercial customers. The quality of work is generally high. The company is small and opportunities may exist for smart and motivated people.

    Cons

There is a sincere effort and appreciation to reward those who perform well. However, as a cost-minded company, talented personnel are not offered competitive compensation and are often given a reduced set of tools to perform their work.

    Advice to Management

As a smaller company, there is a tendency toward nepotism. Those hired into positions of leadership often fail to make a proper evaluation of business objectives toward growth. Search and pay for talented people to accomplish business goals.
