I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Love the company. Awesome benefits the company itself does the employees right the harder you work to achieve the goals set the better the company it as a whole. Family oriented when need to be.

    Cons

Work long hours in summer hardly any family time. We wear out work shirts out faster than we are given them so we pay out of pocket for them.

    Advice to Management

I work at dc9 in Nashville Tennessee. I transferred down from dc13 two years ago and all I gotta say is we need an undercover boss. Myself being on the bottom can't make these people understand how we are a team and as a team we can succeed but when more than half go against protocol and prefer not to do it right makes it hard on those who were trained right. I think you guys need to come down and clean house just saying. Lots go on here that makes me wonder what happen to the company. I miss Indy dc 13 more everyday. I lay my head down on my pillow at nite and think what was I thinking leaving a well goal oriented part of the company to come down and walk into a part who doesn't seem to care at all. People don't quit a company they quit a supervisor. That should tell you why the turn over rate is so high.

    Pros

Flexible work environment, comfortable work environment, excellent discount to employees

    Cons

lower than normal compensation, overbearing store managers with little true management skills.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the "good ole' boy" mentality and enforce your own code of conduct at ALL levels not just when it suits you. At the district level and above pay more attention to the people you manage. "I'm too busy" is never a good response! Get help!

    Pros

They are cheap cheap cheap and management is brain washed

    Cons

Take for instants, they send me to a lube garage for an oil change, instead of a quick lube joint like Jiffy Lube. The manger gives me a container of motor oil 5 qts. and a filter to give to the guy, and tell him to change the oil with O'Reillys Oil. That's like going to a restaurant with your date and telling the waitress to tell the cook (chief) to cook the fish you brought with you along with potato's, Company is screwed up

    Advice to Management

    Get un-brain washed,

I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Team members are able & willing with the right guidance, computer training system is straight forward and easy to understand, most store managers in the general area are knowledgeable and eager to help solve issues.

    Cons

Lack of a team mentality, untruthful management, favoritism, a lot of bosses and not many leaders, lack of training available, most training done with computers (can be helpful, but not good enough), very little interaction with management (Management has a "figure it out on your own" mentality). The Bay Area chapter, I feel that the people running the area have pulled the wool over their superior's eyes. There are quite a few bad apples in upper management positions. The overall feeling is that most all employees are regarded as simply numbers and therefore never receive the guidance necessary to be successful in the company, or any other auto parts company for that matter.

    Advice to Management

Be straight forward with employees that come into the company, lying about compensation, locations and training is bad business and makes the company as a whole look very bad. Also, stop treating the lower level employees like they are just numbers, show them more opportunity and training. Lastly, actually support ALL employees the same, be there when people need you.

Easy, low stress work. Growing company.

    Cons

Resistant to new ideas and change. No paid time off for an entire year.

    Advice to Management

Don't leave early every other Friday. Help your team members promote even if it is not in your particular department.
