I worked at OCS Group (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a counter for this company for about a year and half whiles in uni.
Not much positives to be honest. This role is perfect to provide you with some income whiles you look for a much a better job. Also, you get to choose the shifts you want to attend , so it's quite flexible.
One positive is the colleagues that you meet and work with and occasionally some friendly count managers. Another positive is the pay you get for going to independent shifts which is significantly above the minimum wage.

    Cons

Lot of time spent on travelling to job sites which isn't paid for.
Work can be very taxing on the body and the long shift hours in primark and b&qs are very unhealthy.
Missing shifts not paid for and you have to chase the company's HR, which can be very time consuming.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect and communicate more with workers to improve working conditions.

I have been working at OCS Group full-time

    Pros

You can get some online benefits and they provide your uniform for free. They have never said no when I have asked for new uniform and when it comes to PPE, they will make sure you have everything you need.

    Cons

Lack of respect. Most managers are of the opinion that if you don't like being treated with contempt, go work for someone else. When it come to personal development, it is only available if the management like you. Big fans of min wage whilst expecting staff to run around mad. Their website says they want to be an employer of choice, yet nobody has told the managers that yet. It often feels like there is a Sports Direct culture.

    Advice to Management

Allow staff to speak up and pay attention to them. We get feedback forms, then they are just ignored. If they are genuine about wanting to be an employer of choice, they need to train their staff better. The CEO needs to get out of the office and talk to the workers at the bottom.

I have been working at OCS Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only positive about working for OCS is work colleagues excluding management

    Cons

So many! incompetent management totally lacking any people skills incompetent planning or planning on an ad hoc panic basis to be precise. Wages never correct and no desire to deal constructively with queries bulliying and favouritism rife, no eccential equipment availble (false economy). Each day brings a new frenzy of chaos totally laughable organizationally will suit anyone who thrives on being treated like a half-wit lowest staff morale i have ever experienced due to above and much more!!

    Advice to Management

Leave before you're found out and sacked it's only a matter of time !

I have been working at OCS Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunities present for those who want them, but be prepared to be thrown deep end

The lack of guidance can be beneficial to a motivated individual who wants to do things their way

    Cons

Long shifts, no breaks, night work, failing equipment repetitive and redundant processes a company (division) that exists on the sum of knowledge and experience of the individuals, with little central direction and enforcement of it - if all experienced managers suddenly left there d be no way to re educate the new ones as the guidance information that does exist is vastly out of date inaccurate or simply incorrect

    Advice to Management

Start paying people decent wage and invest in retention of staff, introduce rewards for most productive team members, fire 70% of office workers as they are wasting your money and reinvest in field operatives, their equipment etc. Bring central guidance to contract managers and get them to actually attend a job or two to get an idea of what the realities of life are. Make productivity targets realistic and grounded in facts and statistics as currently they are simply conjured up from thin air by whoever happens to be in charge of the contract/region simply because they wish it to be true

    Pros

Meeting lots of new people, opportunities for career advancement, good training, management trust your abilities, good support network with management & HR

    Cons

Long hours - long shift patterns can be tough, especially if you have a young family. Management do allow shift swaps, but can be tough getting someone to swap if you haven't got a great shift
