I have been working at ODU Research Foundation full-time

    Pros

Medical Benefits are the best in the area. I highly doubt you will find a better health insurance plan at the rate they offer it. They cover most of the expense. That alone is enough to stay with the foundation. It is a positive work environment however the work load is large-- that is to be expected when working with ODU.

    Cons

There should be more opportunity for advancement and raises. There is more room for praise individually and as an entire team.

    Advice to Management

Increase salaries and opportunities for growth within each department.

I worked at ODU Research Foundation part-time

    Pros

Not really much to say here. The laboratory that I worked in under ODURF was a good laboratory independent of ODURF itself. This review is for the people who are working as part of ODU under ODURF management.

    Cons

The management side of ODURF was very mismanaged. Paperwork took ages to be processed, including frequently being forgotten or just lost. Also bad experiences when it came to filing grants as well as managing the money following the award of a grant.

I have been working at ODU Research Foundation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Straight forward if you don't ask questions.

    Cons

Bad benefits, hard to communicate due to complications of university versus research foundation, low pay

    Advice to Management

Give retirement and education benefits to all your employees

I have been working at ODU Research Foundation full-time

    Pros

    Good health and dental benefits.

    Cons

A backwards organization that freely displays rampant favoritism and works its employees to the bone while rewarding mediocrity.

    Advice to Management

New leadership is needed immediately to help this foundation meet its mission. The board of directors and ODU president should be very concerned about what is occurring to employees by the "management" of this poorly run organization. Newcleasdership hires should bring some knowledge to the table and have an advanced degree while being engaged in their day-to-day work.

    Pros

Awesome co workers! Everyone is extremely friendly. Free Jimmy Johns every once in a while.

    Cons

As a student worker there wasn't much for me to do.

I worked at ODU Research Foundation part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hands on experience working on circuit boards. Was a good opportunity to develop some skills such as troubleshooting, soldering, team communication, to name a few.

    Cons

"Management" for this project was not run very well. Random hours, extreme expectations, and lack of hourly pay.

    Advice to Management

Assure to give some guidelines to a teacher if they're looking for student help on a project. I feel as though i was taken advantage of, and was not sufficiently compensated for my time.

    Pros

I am not sure if there are any. It is very hard to decide.

    Cons

Disorganization, Human Resources is rude and disorganized, there efficiency is very low on employee returns, no retirement matching.

    Advice to Management

Dissolve the foundation and have the postdoctoral fellow be associated with ODU itself.
