Being a smaller company, there are some opportunities to take on more responsibility if you are prepared to take the initiative.

    Cons

There can be a good bit of micro-management.

    Advice to Management

A better management of processes while still allowing personal creativity could be great for this company.

"Miserable place to be every day"

    Star Star Star Star Star

    Pros

There aren't many. Just a handful of nice people.

    Cons

Depressing environment for a company that sells innovative, exciting office furniture. There is no communication or sense of a team. It's sink or swim at this place! Virtually no real training on product or how each department works. Managers are NOT qualified to run departments. Nepotism at it's finest. They couldn't care less about retaining their best employees(!!?) Worst of all, employees are not trusted and treated like misbehaving pre-schoolers.

    Advice to Management

Learn to trust, respect, and value your employees. If this was done, the overall morale would increase exponentially. The owners need to stop yelling at each other and causing a scene everyday.

I have been working at OEC Business Interiors full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a small amount of really nice, normal people that work there. Other than that I can't say anything else.

    Cons

Poorly managed departments. Little to no training on product. No standards or work ethics enforced. No team environment. Finger pointing at every opportunity. No accountability. Hostile work environment. Everyone is miserable.

    Advice to Management

Show up to the office and care about your employees. Get their opinions on what is working and what isn't. Stop implementing ideas that make more work for the low people on the totem pole. Give recognition to people who work hard and stop rewarding people who diminish morale and treat their employees with little to no respect.

I worked at OEC Business Interiors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some nice people. Technology is ok.

    Cons

For being a furniture dealer that sells some of the most advanced forward thinking designs as far as office furniture goes, this place is stuck in the dark ages. Their facility is dark, old and dirty. Their mentality towards their employees is worse. They have the worst communication skills I've ever seen in a corporate setting. Not to mention they yell, swear and slam doors to express their anger or disappointment with how things are going. The managers are not qualified to oversee their employees and micromanage them excessively.

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified managers who actually care about their job. Communicate expectations to everyone and stop keeping people in the dark about whats going on in the office. The rumor mill is ridiculous and most of the day is used speculating on whats happening next.
