I worked at OMD International (More than a year)

    Pros

Warm, loving culture and a good handle on how to manage international business

    Cons

Little bit hierarchical for my liking; even to the point where EDs had to pitch for a slot on board. Old school.

    Advice to Management

Understand what everyone does and act more as meritocracy to ensure you nurture your best talent

    Pros

Hands on with media reconciliation processes and invoicing, acquire financial knowldge as well as a financial understanding of the company and the industry, communication with all Latin America and vendors

    Cons

Not a lot of room for professional growth within the department, not a whole lot of exposure to the industry or the clients affiliated with the company.

    Pros

A intense great learning curve for media knowledge building. Nice camaraderie among teammates; and company does make effort to build "culture" and CSR projects.

    Cons

The company as a whole is so awards driven all year round - so much time is wasted in preparing for nomination submission; that the real work has to be pushed back. It is really dependant on direct supervisor and director's way of management. In my experience, they made executives clean up backend work, without giving opportunities to face clients. They made fresh graduate go through 1-3months "compulsory internship"; with intern pay - yet workload is no different than an executives.

Company was going through a weird phase of restructuring and allocation of resources due to the high turnover - which affected the morale of the office environment.

    Advice to Management

Provide new staff a more all-rounded learning opportunity. Be more empathetic and maybe some should go through proper-leadership courses - there are those who are good at their work, but horrible at leading.

I worked at OMD International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A chance to travel for work (but don't expect sleep on those trips - oh and you can use your weekends for this too) we'll see you back on Monday thanks.

    Cons

Unbelievably controlled by a useless management, exasperated staff with not encouragement to learn or expand themselves, this would be seen as unconstructive. I know of more than two people given garden leave due to stress so bad they couldn't return.

    Advice to Management

Recognise and reward your staff - let them have a life!
