I worked at ON Semiconductor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Office hours working.
Motorola analog division culture and people
A lot of good engineering document left from Motorola age.
The HQ is very close to the airport.

    Cons

    Low salary
    Too many office politics.
Not too many good engineers left there thorough the years.

    Advice to Management

The top management seems lack of divisions and lack of focus. They tried to acquire multiple companies of various products but cannot focus on high ASP high margin products.

I worked at ON Semiconductor full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good communication and vision on where and how we will do things, good managers who cared.

    Cons

The plant closed because the cost in USA was too high. Other US sites remain open.

    Advice to Management

The US sites can and have outperformed the Asia sites. You need to bring back jobs to the US.

Some leaders are worse than others in working with people in different countries. No understanding of being a global company.

I have been working at ON Semiconductor full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

ON Semiconductor has some of the best work-life balance opportunities for employees. Employees have work from home options and managers are pretty hands-off when it comes to work schedules. The company is very results driven so as long as your getting your work done, they are really good about letting you manage your own schedule. I also enjoy the sense of community the company has built with community evolvement, employee gatherings, etc.

    Cons

The overall leadership needs a lot of improvement. The company continues to expect more and more from employees but without additional resources. The company runs lean so you have to be ready to wear many hats and juggle multiple tasks at one time.

    Advice to Management

Training needs to be a priority within groups. Managers also need to take more interest in an employee's career paths and developing their team members.

Great place to meet dedicated, hard working and motivated people.

    Cons

Traditional management style. Employees are not valued to their full potential.

    Advice to Management

Management seems to be lacking long term commitment and vision; and seems to be sacrificing long term benefit of the company for short term gain.
