I worked at ON Semiconductor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family like atmosphere, Pretty consistent work load, great opportunities within company, pay is competitive with other FABS in the area.

    Cons

Forced vacation during the semiconductor rollercoaster, limited budgets so we had alot of hand-me-downs. Not too many Cons to list really.

    Advice to Management

Upper management was ok in my opinion, but my immediate Mgr. was great, very professional. He had confidence in his technicians and let the team do what they are paid and trained to do. I really liked that and it allowed me to grow there.

    Pros

Big, stable company. Higher management is trying to reduce other costs before layoffs. Nice people to work with. Great benefits.

    Cons

Not many career opportunities. Hard to change anything in the huge company.

I have been working at ON Semiconductor full-time

    Pros

Good hours decent pay. Located on bus routs. Good cafe on site

    Cons

High deductible medical plan. That's really the only bad part about this company

    Advice to Management

Fix the medical plan. That's the reason the turnover rate is sky high.

I worked at ON Semiconductor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The manufacturing staff in Gresham is great. I enjoyed the 1st level management, they were very supportive. Pay was good once you had some years of experience.

    Cons

Upper management is disconnected from the work which goes on. They need to be more in-tune with the difficulties and challenges of the manufacturing workers. Equipment was old and continually breaking down.

    Advice to Management

Invest more money in newer manufacturing equipment. Quit buying used stuff.

I have been working at ON Semiconductor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good people, great shift work, lots of time off, cafe for day shift at least. Plenty of tools to learn,

    Cons

Expect a lot of change. Cost cutting gets in the way at times. Supervisors can be hit and miss.

    Advice to Management

Let your workers know they are a valuable asset to the company, not just another number on the floor.

I have been working at ON Semiconductor as an intern

    Pros

The internship was great and it is very hands on. The interview process was easy.

    Cons

The hours were long. The company is very strict about availability. The building is big because it used to be a manufacturing facility.

I worked at ON Semiconductor full-time

    Pros

I was at first hired by Aptina, which was later acquired by ON Semi. In total, the R&D group is small (10 people), have to do a lot to assist both the hardware and software team. It was still running as Aptina, where you can learn a lot from everyone in the team.

    Cons

It has 401k match, but the health insurance plan is really bad. Communication between different groups is mostly slow and sometimes you have to find out the answer yourself.

    Advice to Management

The project management is sometimes ambiguous. Roadmap is not quite clear about the next generation product. However, people have a lot freedom if they want to switch to another group.

    Pros

    Work Environment conducive for learning.

    Cons

Being a big organization, getting the appropriate work related data becomes a bit tedious.
