Worst group of leaders in my career. Management in IT is clueless. No feedback, good ole boy network. Don’t waste a day of your career here. Everything here is smoke and mirrors.

    Moves extremely slow

    Lacks innovation

    Advice to Management

I worked at ONEOK (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great wealth of exposure to a lot of different systems.

    Cons

It was alright but there really isn't a whole lot of upward mobility there "they tell you this in the interview" I was there during the OneGas split . When they made me an offer to work rotating 12 hour shifts on rotating days off at OneGas for no more then what I was currently making. I declined it and they subsequently let me go as a reaction I assume... a rather hasty management decision in my opinion as there was no effort made to discuss the matter, but it was not a problem for me . I could tell from my first interview that this was not a place you want to stick around at for too long. I had a very good hourly wage but I was also a contractor and I was able to negotiate that before coming on-board with the contracting company I worked through.... I had days that where very fast paced and some days that nothing at all happened. I also had to pick up a lot of slack for a shift partner. who progressively got lazier and lazier.... I think management at the time was kind of tied and getting people in with any experience was a bit of a task for them. needless to say it was a fun ride for the 10 months I was there great exposure but I really didn't learn anything useful in my opinion.

    Advice to Management

don't act like children when the peaces don't fall where you want them too....

I have been working at ONEOK full-time

    Pros

Really good atmosphere with great people
Teams are broken up by specialities so depth of knowledge tends to increase over time
    Great benefits
Short Term Incentive plan can make for a really nice bonus

    Cons

Can be a little too much of "we've always done it like that" attitude
    Little to no cross training/mentoring

    Advice to Management

Be open to change and help employees expand their breadth of knowledge.

I have been working at ONEOK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Hometown Feel
    Benefit Package
    Management is Approachable
    Talented Workforce

    Cons

Market Based Pay is actually well below Market
    Tulsa
    Management Slow to Change/Request
    Executive White Boy Club
    Top Heavy Pay
Major share of the work, but not the pay.
    Management doesn't really listen.
Diversity and Inclusion Initiative a major sham.

    Advice to Management

Pay above Market, and you won't keep losing your top talent to companies that will. The short term, it may seem like it doesn't matter or you make not notice, but you will fill the impact in the long term impact for not adequately investing in your talent. Quit appeasing our investors, and rewarding your staff. EVERYONE notices it and its not a secret. The amount of cash we give back to our investors in relations to employee pay and debt reduction is a major issue. Invest into your people and business first, and the investors will benefit from everyone coming up together, while reducing leverage and providing better returns for the investors. Equal sacrifice, not equal gifts is a biblical term, and should be used to equitably compensate your people. The are the biggest motivator to your balance sheet, even if they do only show up on the liability section.

    Pros

They're flexible with work-life balance. The benefits are good and they care about their employees. They also provide training opportunities.

    Cons

Advancement opportunities seem somewhat narrow. I was up for a new position but not really given any direction as to what I would be doing or compensation information before I accepted it. I denied it and stayed where I am now.

    Advice to Management

Take notice and care of your employees. You have some good people that work here.

    Advice to Management

    Management young and immature..grow up....
