    Pros

Few companies in India can match the benefits that ONGC gives to its employees
Job security is a major attraction with this company
If you get posted at an office, you will mostly experience great work-life balance

    Cons

Field postings can be very demanding. Physically, mentally and socially. Prepare to leave your social life behind on many important festivals and occasions.
The culture of the company has not changed much from what it was 10-15 years ago. It will not be able to match that of some of the good young companies unless management wishes to change age-old customs like- Boss is always right!
Very senior managers can be extremely self centered and their actions are not in the interest of the company and junior employees many times.
Many managers don't care much about how to make things better in the company as they are cautious not to cross their bosses and jeopardize their own promotions.
Most employees around are not motivated enough and just show up on the job to pay bills.
Career opportunities are present but can miss up on them if boss is not supportive.

    Advice to Management

The company has potential to become great as ONGC does have very bright employees. Don't forget to nurture such employees and provide them to freedom to take chances to ultimately contribute to company's progress.
