    Pros

The company culture is fun as there is a large focus on employees. There are often events in the entire office for all departments such as office olympics

    Cons

unfortunately t there's a lot of frustration with partners and various departments. Accountants often feel like secretaries with accounting degrees

    Advice to Management

Give the accountants less stores and let them focus more on financial analysis then on completing a number of stores

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The pay is decent and you get a comp card which is very nice. You are eligible for 3 weeks of Paid-Time-Off which is also nice.

    Cons

This company is soooooooooo unprofessional it is hard to know where to begin. Given its size you would think it would be structured like a blue chip company, but it is a joke. The organization is the most political I have ever worked in and is full of cliques. There is no professional leadership and the credentials of the leadership are more fitting of a fraternity or sorority president than a corporate executive. If you are the fortune 100 or 500 type and want to work with a reputable company I would not work at OSI as you will not progress with the industry. Also, OSI has no HR so there is very little support of its employees.

    Advice to Management

Take your business more seriously and get rid of the good old boy network. Quit acting like this large company is some sort of fraternity or sorority--it is ridiculous.

    Pros

    -Big checks equal big tips
    -Getting time off is easy
    -Great discounts
    -New building (new heating/cooling)
    -Looks great on resumes
    -Job is pretty clean

There's alot of pros that make the job seem enticing. The problem lies in the cons. They're few, but they're big ones.

    Cons

-The staff is used to complaining. They do it regularly to the point of insanity.
-The "deals" make it great for the customers but encourage a cheaper clientele to dine and tip less.
-The operating partner (franchise owner) sets unrealistic goals, insults his employees when stressed, and completely lacks managerial ability even though he is there regularly.
-Management is pushy and micromanages to the point of frustration.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees more. They know how to do their jobs.

    Pros

Outback Steakhouse is national company so it is easy to transfer locations within the company. There are many national marketing campaigns and programs initiated by corporate and there is a lot of support from corporate. Almost everyone I know in management started bussing tables or waiting tables so there is definitely promotion from within.

    Cons

If you are working as part of the waitstaff you are assigned 2-3 table sections which does not allow you to make as much money as you would at other restaurants. Although, if you are strong you can pick up other tables during your shift. As with any restaurant, things can be unorganized due to the nature of the flow of the day.

    Advice to Management

Outback corp does look for employees who shine and will advance those who do. Managers often started as bussers or waitstaff.

    Pros

The only good thing about working there was the coworkers. And you would earn about 650 a week which is comparable to my carear job now.

    Cons

Waiting on tables just sucks, management is overworked and underpaid and they let you know it. It was very hard to call out sick.

    Advice to Management

Take a chill pill, you signed up for this to be your carear not us. Stuff is gonna go wrong in that industry probably everyday-learn to deal with it better.

    Lack of career structure
Not interested in professional training assistance
Do not reward those that go out and get more education/professional training

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Now open for lunch and dinner. Flexable schedule and part-time work is ok. Good for students, 2nd job and parents.

    Cons

Like all server jobs, it is hard physical labor with minimal breaks and it is not encouraged to eat on your break.

    Advice to Management

Yearly parties are nice, continue having them. Maybe you can give other awards away, like letting the server pick their section for a night.

    Pros

You don't work during the day. They are only open at night (4-5 weekdays) and then open in the afternoons Sat/Sun. People freak out about coming to Outback so people feel they are coming into a restaurant that is special and it's a special occasion. That is its blessing and curse.

    Cons

It's a corporate environment so they will no matter what side with the guest and give them what they want. We have some very undesirable customers who believe it's fun to come in and act ignorant, run you to death then complain to management so they can get stuff free. Then they leave you NO TIP. Just to shut people up and get them out the door the managers give away the whole restaurant to them and sent them on their way.

    Advice to Management

Stand up for your servers!! Take a stand and don't give in to all of the ridiculous demands of our clientele. Please have some schedule flexibility and don't have your server scrounging around trying to get a shift covered.

    Pros

Great place to put yourself through college.
Can make decent money. The average ppa is about $11. It is not hard to make 60+ dollars per shift. The pay is 2.13/hr, and very few servers make more than that. The atmosphere is fun, and the people that work here are great. The management team will work around your schedule most of the time. They provide adequate work/life balance. If you show up, and work hard, you will be recognized.

    Cons

Usually too many servers scheduled; this means little money on nights that are expected to be slow. Management can make you wonder sometimes. Consistency is low.

    Advice to Management

Be more proactive. Spend money to make money. Set employees up for success.
