    Pros

The flexibility in hours is a great benefit to working at OSI. If you need to take an hour off to go to a doctor's appointment or go see your kid in school, they will let you. Their comittment to having a balance between work and personal life is one of the best things about working for OSI restaurant partners. I also like the relaxed dress code. I can't complain about being able to wear jeans every day of the week. They also support a fun atmosphere to work in and team building is key. They are also committed to doing good for the community.

    Cons

Pay and benefits are lacking. The company does not contribute to 401ks. Also there is a lack of job growth in the company.

    Advice to Management

Honestly in these economic times, I am happy to have my job. They have cut back on financial items but I still have my job so I am happy about that.

    Pros

It is flexible with work schedules and you can make alot of money in a short time. The new hotschedule systems also enhances the flexibility of scheduling. Some middle management have good attitudes towards staff, but seniority takes place. The atmosphere of the restaurant is exceptional, the boss is more concerned with getting your personality accross than the detailed components of services that are oulined in the secret shop event. This does create of since of community and humanness, because striving to attain all service standards does become redundant and almost robot like. The boss is definatley approachable and easy to talk to, along with middle managment, but sometimes employees are ignored.

    Cons

The tipshare system, the seniority of management with pompus key employees, head wait, and middle managment. The attitude of a promoted head wait can ultimately affect the timilines of you getting out on time. In short, if head wait does not like you, then your bag will be last. So you almost have to be extremely nice to these canadates. In addition, if you do request only a couple of days for school, you are seen as a filler, no matter how long you worked with the company and be schedule horrible closing shifts and 5.15 shifts. This does not include everyone. Also racism is prevalent.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing as far as food quality and consistency. Upgrade your current employee feedback, because it is not a good system. Furthermore, when taking the employee survey management says if you rate it poorly then we will have to have another meeting, so most gave a favorable postion with its managers.

    Pros

Great place to work because of the people, company, coworkers, and money.

    Cons

Customers and occasional lower-management problems. The day-to-day managers at some of the stores kind of went on some obnoxious power trips. I guess that could be considered just an individual personality flaw, and not a reflection of the company itself. Wherever you go you are going to run into annoying managers who think that they are way more important than they really are. Same with customers. Outback is somewhat of a higher-end restaraunt, so sometimes customers could get "snooty".

    Advice to Management

    Senior mgmt was fine.

I worked at OSI Restaurant Partners full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great tips, Great Management, excellent scheduling

    Cons

Drive for perfection could be a little overbearing at times. Don't expect someone to sell hundreds of dollars in alcohol on prom night, or give happy go lucky service to funeral parties. Not much upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

    They know what they're doing.

    Pros

Some of the best concepts in the business, best name recognition. They treat employees with respect and are great in community awareness.

    Cons

The hours are not so much long, but they are so inconsistent you never feel rested. Base pay is a joke, you have to have a great location with good sales to make any money via bonus. No match on 401k.

    Advice to Management

Change the 401k, get better health insurance, and get some reviews of your JVP's from your MP's. You may not always know what is going on!

    Pros

Advancement is fairly easy through hard work and dedication. Sometimes you are offered positions without even thinking about applying. It is a relaxed environment.

    Cons

Most of the employees can be quite lazy. That is the reason that a chance for advancement is so easy to come by. This may be a downfall because people that do only mediocre work can be promoted.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to make changes get the feedback from employees before you go ahead and implement them. You are the only ones left looking badly when you try something, you get the negative feedback, and then change it back. It would save a lot of time, effort, and money to find the solutions first.

    Pros

I had a fantastic boss, great discount, and it was flexible with school. There is also good profit sharing (in the form of a holiday bonus) if you worked enough hours (the standard isn't hard to meet) you got a bonus.

    Cons

The shifts were unreliable. I never knew what time I was going to get off work. The tip sharing system was awful because on busy nights where you had to work the hardest, more people were on the clock so you made less than you did on slow nights. he company suffered from over-hiring and very few people had enough hours.

    Advice to Management

Be patient with your employees and fire those who are not food with customer service.
