I have been working at OSRAM full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very positive work environment. People are friendly and have overall good working relationships, both among team members and between management and employees. Nice benefits and work-life balance.

    Cons

For the past few years the lighting industry has experienced unprecedented changes and many old lighting companies are struggling due to reduced margin and increased competition. The recent acquisition by ams cast even more uncertainty to the future of the company.

I worked at OSRAM full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexibility to work onsite / offsite

    Cons

Low morale due to routine layoffs and reorganization. Lack of clear branding. Too many heads and not enough hands. Lacking faith in leadership due to inability to recognize the obvious.

    Advice to Management

Fix the disconnects and restore proper balance. The right hand and left hand are not working together. Picture a company as a tree. A healthy and thriving tree has a strong root system grounded in well-nourished / fertile soil, one main trunk with a few limbs and several branches and offshoots protected by a layer of bark and covered with plenty of leaves to harvest the energy needed to produce an abundance of fruit. Now let's look at the OSRAM tree. The large trunk and ample limbs appear strong but the unseen root system is lacking fertile soil due to an imbalance of give and take. The branch-to-leaf ratio is upside down because OSRAM doesn't realize it is the leaves, not the branches, that provide what the rest of the tree needs to thrive. OSRAM prunes too often, overworking the remaining leaves and still expects the tree to thrive. Restore proper balance, tend to the soil by putting back into it what is taken out, and the tree will regain its strength, continue to grow and yield a bumper crop.
