I have been working at OTIS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The team at Otis is comprised of humble, hungry, and smart individuals. It makes it a fun place to work. People (including the customer) are at the center of the culture. The significant investment in people (employee scholar program) and technology will be the reason this company continues to be an industry leader.

    Cons

As with any company with a legacy over 160 years, there are times when we are focused on what has been done in the past. The company would be served well be focusing on future improvements without thinking too much about past actions.

I have been working at OTIS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Within the legal department, current structure allows for a healthy balance of autonomy and support.

    Cons

Non-executives do not have offices and instead work in open work stations (that are smaller and more open than standard cubicles), which is manageable but less than an ideal working situation particularly if one is on the phone. A positive aspect, however, of this less than ideal working set-up is that it encourages one to know thy neighbor.

    I worked at OTIS full-time

    Pros

    Some wonderful people work there.
    Very easy to make friends.
Compared to other places it is relatively stress free.
The company is trying hard to change the company culture for the better.

    Cons

Management, management, management. Depending on which team you're in you might have very interesting work or you might be hating your position. Regarding the latter part, you have everything from people not getting enough responsibility in their position to being stuck in undesirable positions that management is unwilling to help with. Also is there an HR department there?

    Advice to Management

Try and do your job more. Care for your employees and not just your own career goals. Isn't that what management is supposed to focus on to begin with?

    Pros

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Listen to employee concerns and take interest. Provide training. Provide proper departmental staff.

I have been working at OTIS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The culture at OTIS is very entrepreneurial. You get to own and run your segment of the business and make decisions that impact the everyday needs of our customer. No matter what job you hold, you get to work in cross functional teams (finance, operations, sales, project management).

I feel very empowered at OTIS and know that I can build a great career here.

    Cons

If you're looking for someone to hold your hand every step of the way, this is probably not the right company for you.

  10. "Excellent company with energetic and visionary President"

I have been working at OTIS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

-Sr. Leadership is taking the long view on investments in technology and the service business, while pushing to become "disruptors" in the industry that Otis itself invented.
-While part of a large multi-national corporation (a good thing most of the time), the company often feels small due to the strong and frequent communication across cities, states, and countries.
-Opportunities to travel to landmark buildings & cities.

    Cons

The construction industry has historically moved slow and change is sometimes difficult.

    Advice to Management

Continue to embrace the strong Otis team culture (most of us bleed blue!) while bringing in fresh and diverse voices.
