I have been working at OTIS as an intern

    Pros

Employees and higher ups are very passionate about the company; friendly people; great benefits. You can work here as an international student. They want you stay for consecutive summers.

    Cons

As an intern, there were a lot of days when we sat at our desks with little or nothing to do. Lots of interns managers were just never around, so anytime interns had questions, there was no one to report to. Some interns got more work to do than others, really just depended on your position. If you were on the factory floor, you probably had more to do than if you were in the office.

Overall, even if I didn't get the hands-on experience for my job that I desired, I got the exposure to an industry I was interested in and I think that was valuable.

HR is very inconsistent about dress code for each job title so make sure you ask your manager, not HR. Also, you have to be wearing PPE to go to the Cafe, which was pretty annoying.

Some of the older employees are still bitter about moving from Bloomington and you'll hear them repeat it over and over again. Younger employees want to bring new ideas to the company, but they often go ignored by the people who have been with the company and don't want change.

The Florence area isn't necessarily attractive to young people and the internship coordinator didn't exactly do much to help find us activities to do.

    Advice to Management

Higher ups were very down to earth and as an intern, that is something we all really respected. Diversity in leadership is important, and you're doing a good job of implementing it in Florence.

I worked at OTIS as an intern

    Pros

Overall is a positive experience. The work environment was very friendly and the people are great. My manager at during my summer internship was exceptional and taught me a great deal about the industry. Flew all of the interns to their headquarter in Connecticut for professional development.

    Cons

For such a big company leading the elevator industry, the office was small and outdated. The amenity isn't so great and pay could be better. Slow days was especially slow and busy days were hectic.

I have been working at OTIS full-time

    Pros

Organized, established company with many firsts in the industry. Seem to value their employees and have a deep commitment to their safety and well-being.

    Cons

Seem a bit slow to embrace and roll out new technologies to interface with their equipment and customers. Still seem a bit "old-school" while other companies seem to have newer technology.

    Advice to Management

Do more to retain their best talent in the field. Get rid of problem employees sooner. Don't rely too much on brand recognition.
