I have been working at OTP Bank (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Company is results driven and there are many opportunities for advancement. Overall everyone is professional and it is a great place to work.

    Cons

Limited management roles. Progression and compensation plans were not always well defined early in the year.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in people and processes.

I worked at OTP Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Need for know how is huge, easy to add value if you are well prepared and professional
If you master office politics things should be ok for you

    Cons

Lack of vision from management, "socialist" approach, no investment in employees

    Advice to Management

invest in people, turnoaround your HR policies, you won't build anything on "yes, man" approaches

I worked at OTP Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - bonuses (2x the 80-110% of your monthly salary), cafeteria
    - paid overtime if you have it
    - getting to know the biggest bank of Hungary and its processes
    - work-life balance
    - opportunity to make an impact at a big bank and for the whole bank at the HQ
    - cheap language course (English)
    - good team building events and intelligent colleagues, good community
    - calm atmosphere depending on department
    - some people are very clever

    Cons

    - average salary, it is not easy to get significant raises
    - bureaucracy
    - in general old computer systems and bad processes
    - it is easy to get stuck at a hierarchy level, not getting higher and not getting new tasks
    - it is general that older colleagues do not get any or only minimal raises in salary for years so it is possible that freshmen earn almost as much as an experienced colleague
    - no career planning at all
    - connections and visibility are far more important than performance
    - you have to be a good 'comrade' to be promoted or to achieve something
    - there are untouchable colleagues who cannot be critized of fired due to their connections
    - HR is a joke, IT dept. has also problems (3-4 CIOs stepped down or were fired in the last years)
    - not having the opportunity to use foreign languages
    - continous reorganizations
    - in some departments many old (50+) colleagues

    Advice to Management

Make IT a priority, do not just talk about it. Make career paths and value performance not connections. Do not let talent.

Mr. Csanyi (CEO) talked about the Digital Transformation and changes in HR but nobody believes that anything will change due to interests of powerful people with strong connections at the management level.

    Pros

Helpful colleagues, good atmosphere at the bank, corporate culture is very good. Work/life ballance is excellent (same as the most of the banks).

    Cons

Out-of-date systems for daily use. Career opportunities are weak outside of Budapest. Compensation could be higher for interns. Should introduce a career plan for current employees and future new hires.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in the development of banking systems, introduce a young graduate program for freshmens. Introduce an Employee stock ownership plan for workers.
