    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Oak Grove School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits were always good and at one time a great sense of community. After our superintendent changed the entire culture did as well.

    Cons

Lack of support for teachers. We as teachers no longer have a voice in this district.

    Advice to Management

Start hearing out your employees. If you treat them well they will want to do great for you and will actually stick around.

  5. "Substitute Teacher"

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Oak Grove School District as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Staff at District Office are nice.
Children in younger grades are very sweet.
There is need for a lot of substitute teachers.

    Cons

Middle School students are very disrespectful and defiant. There is some gang activity in the area so be careful with how you handle some of the classroom conflicts.

    Advice to Management

Ask teachers to show more respect to the substitute teachers since if there is no substitute teacher when they are not in class the students will not get any education on that day.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Oak Grove School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Willing to let staff take the lead at most recent math and technology staff development district wide days. Morale about those days have vastly improved.

    Cons

Some top-down decisions are made, with only rubber-stamp attention to staff input.

    Advice to Management

Don't give management raises during poorly-attended board meetings or at times of year when most staff are on break.

  7. "Retirees treated unfairly"

    Pros

Students and parents are great to work with

    Cons

Admintrators do not fiscally support teachers

    Advice to Management

Support teachers and do not dismiss retirees because they cost more than other substitute teachers.Value the retirees experience
