    Pros

Oak is one of the oldest VC's in the industry, and name recognition and status are high. They have a top quality deal flow.

    Cons

There are very few people at the firm compared to the amount of money under management, so the standards are extremely high and you have to make it pretty much by yourself.

    Advice to Management

Since Oak has a formula that enables them to continue to gain support from the investor community, an attitude of "it ain't broke" is understandable.

    Pros

It was fun, like you would expect from working in the VC industry. You get the opportunity to work closely with a portfolio company's senior management and learn about the company's industry in depth, which even many of the people working in the company don't have that kind of opportunity. It was also interesting to work with i-bankers, lawyers, and consultants during the preparation phase of the portfolio's US listing.

    Cons

I only worked there as an intern during the summer. Full-time opportunities are very few (in its China operation at least).

    Advice to Management

I found the management pretty good, at least the partner that I have worked with.
