I worked at OakBend Medical Center full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people you work with are like family. Everyone is willing to help out. The pay was not that bad

    Cons

Administration leads you to believe things. They say one thing and do the complete opposite. All trust is lost. No communication.

    Advice to Management

Quit trying to compete with the top hospitals, listen to your employees, make them feel appreciated.

I worked at OakBend Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was referred, interviewed, filled out paper work and was hired by hiring team.

    Cons

After going through two interviews, being hired, going through orientation and starting the job within my first day of work the CEO sent the HR Director in to tell me he didn't like my vibe and I'm to clock out and turn in my badge. Until orientation that day I had never met the CEO. I a college graduate, great personality , good work ethics. The CEO's actions spells SCAM to me.

    Advice to Management

The CEO should NEVER be allowed to fire an employee of one day after the employee have been hired, and turned down two other jobs not to mention put in a two weeks notice on his previous job.

    Pros

The co-workers here are GREAT! Everyone works together to accomplish the mission of the company and, co-workers have each other's backs.

    Cons

The only con that I can think of is the pay. Being a smaller hospital in the area, the pay is not that great.

    Advice to Management

There is not much advice to give management at OakBend. Everyone is pretty great. The only downfall is the pay but, that's because it is such a small hospital compared to others around the area.

I have been working at OakBend Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Smaller facility, tight knit group of co-workers, and we have each other's backs.
Lots of opportunity and decent pay for new nurses.

    Cons

Heavy workload (routinely five to six patients with nurses doing all lab draws) and almost zero staff empowerment.
Expected to work miracles with minimal resources.

    Advice to Management

How about positive motivation for the staff, rather than threatening to fire people constantly? You treat us like we're expendable, which is why we're constantly under staffed. Allow staff to set some policies and perhaps have a voice, much like magnet-status hospitals. This can only lend itself to improvement of quality of care and patient satisfaction.

I worked at OakBend Medical Center (More than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of friendly people that work there despite how awful and unsafe this hospital is. Some of the staff were very caring and tried to make a difference.

    Cons

    short staffed
new nurses left to charge shifts
    scheduling seemed optional
called almost daily when not scheduled to work

    Advice to Management

Take care of your nurses or high turnover will continue

    Negative Outlook

I worked at OakBend Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked with some very nice people.

    Cons

Administrators at the surgical centers are incompetent.
    Communication is a problem.
Consistent culture of threatening rather than educating.
Upper Management does not lead by example!

    Advice to Management

Need new administrators! The company says they strive to provide quality patient care but when it comes down to it, they are constantly making decisions based on the bottom line and putting patient quality and safety second.
