Pros
Cons
  • Parking, low pay, not many opportunities to advance (in 6 reviews)

  • I do not like the pay scale very much but being a student still and learning the skills needed when I graduate, the learning far outweighs the pay (in 4 reviews)

I have been working at Oakland University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

After working here for a little while, everyone becomes one big family on campus. Hours also fit around any class schedule.

    Cons

Because I am a student, I can't work over a certain amount of hours, even over the summer. (12 hours during fall and winter terms, 30 hours over summer).

    Advice to Management

Student involvement in meetings and events encourage everyone to understand the job that the student is doing and vise versa. Include the students in more things!

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Oakland University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good Health Benefits, decent intro pay.

    Cons

"Team Work" is a foreign concept. Extreme hostility within numerous departments. "Titles" create a false sense of privilege/justification to work less, especially within the "AP" realm. OU's environment and 85% of staff can be viewed as a sheltered single child, whose parents are never in the picture.

    Advice to Management

Advice to HR/Board: Make smarter choices on who you bring in. What you see on paper is no reflection to the monsters you end up hiring.
