I have been working at Oakley full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very laid back company, lots of fun interacting with all the customers, can be very creative in store lay out and sales tactics, no hard wired way of how to do someting.

    Cons

Retail hours. Will work every weekend. Depending on size of store, the slow retail times can be VERY SLOW

    Advice to Management

Do a little bit better with training. Make it more transparent between the retail world and the corporate world for what they are trying to accomplish.

I worked at Oakley (More than a year)

    Pros

Really laid back attitude, and very flexible. Great discounts also, with a very fun work attire.

    Cons

Managers are usually terrible. Out of 4 managers while with this company, only 2 knew what they were doing. The 2 managers who sucked, were not open to new ideas, had no passion for the brand, and just hated everyone who didn't see it their way.

    Advice to Management

Hire the right people to manage the stores. Putting the longest tenured person in the position is not always the correct play. Passion and attitude go a long way, and if those are lacking, it really trickles down to the employees.

I worked at Oakley full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The culture of the company is amazing, outgoing people, cool products, always adding new technology. Good discount, clothes from the stores as a uniform that are provided for you. Decent perks for retail. Good training.

    Cons

The management is highly favored over the other employees and the incentives for other employees is a joke when compared to management perks. Hard to move up without politics involved.

    Advice to Management

Share the wealth and remember the little people in the stores. The perks for retail should be comparable to corporate.

    Pros

Fun environment, awesome products. Deep culture of fanatics and a level of technology that rivals any company. Every quarter employees receive a paid staff dress which is always a plus! Full Time employees may recieve full health/vision/dental insurance as well as a matching 401k plan. Plus no drug testing can be positive.

    Cons

The company firm Luxottica now owns Oakley and is affecting the style of the products which takes away a lot of what Oakley really is.

    Advice to Management

Look for inside promotions! Look for inside promotions! Re-evaluate the shipping process to stores!

    Pros

    -40 hours a week. Max.
    -Great health insurance package
    -Cool music, relaxing atmosphere
-Free clothes to wear to work
-Freedom to merchandise the store as you see fit
    -Nobody breathing down your neck
-Can't use gift cards online, keeps business in stores
    -Great discount

    Cons

-Some HQ departments are difficult to get a hold of
-Long delay for new employees to get on to RetailPro
    -RetailPro in general
-No web access from the sales floor (to look up products on Oakley website/Vault website)
-High turnover, due to the prestige of the company. Everyone wants to recruit from Oakley.

    Advice to Management

-Go with an IBM or a wireless POS system. RetailPro makes you take 4-5 extra steps from other Retail Operating Systems out there. Will save money in the long run by decreasing payroll and time wasted on non-sense.
-Too many things are still not digital. E-Receipts are great, but an option to not print a receipt if they opt in for it would be nice. Also, electronic signatures for credit cards would be nice.
-Make Payroll/HR easier to get a hold of. Seems like you have to try to call all day to get them to answer.
