    Pros

Lifestyle sports action company to the fullest - great company events, bring your dog to work, laid back atmosphere but hard working environment. Great brand with great history.

    Cons

Parent company completely gutted a majority of the company and only a few functions exist going forward.

I have been working at Oakley full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Office culture is good - used to be great. Decent benefits, although the medical is sub-par to what it used to be. Vacation, 401K is good, if you have tenure. Discounts are always a plus, but we keep making so-so product now. Some travel is nice, but all of the fun Oakley shenanigans have all but disappeared - we must conform to what Italy wants.

    Cons

Medical was downgraded this year. Get ready for a huge deductible. Lay offs killed all processes. Not much room for growth, unless you play the games and are part of "the club". Too much focus on penny pinching and not enough resources/people to get projects done efficiently. Projects have unrealistic timelines.

    Advice to Management

Luxottica does not understand the culture or the brand impact. It has just fallen in the cracks of their money hungry management. Italy - let us go back to how Oakley was, our ideas, our concepts, quality products, innovative, respected brand. Let the people that bleed this brand make it great again and keep those who don't understand Oakley, to take care of Ray-ban.

  8. "brief employment but hopefully thorough review"

    I worked at Oakley part-time

    Pros

flexible and understanding with schedule for the most part
not a challenging job if you are looking for something temporary to fill a summer
    going through the motions
its a solid brand with great technology that is easy to sell once you get an interested customer interested
Since I was really good at things like folding and preferred to do this like stock, management did allow me to work in the backroom

    Cons

going through the motions and a lack of a challenge can make time go very slowly some days if it isn't a busy retail week day or weekend
you do have to memorize a lot of product information due to the brand regardless of the length of time you plan to be at the company

    Advice to Management

sometimes people can be good at sales without putting on a fake smile and a fake sales pitch. as someone who likes to shop, I personally don't like the whole fake pitch thing and am fully capable of finding a sales associate and asking for assistance/help when I need it. It's not necessary to have all your sales associates strike up conversation with everyone who walks into the store, that isn't what is going to make them buy something. As a shopper and as someone who has several years in retail experience, I think its more about the balance of acknowledgement, easily available, and somewhat occupied so as not to look bored.
