I worked at Oakwood Healthcare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

team mentality, hard workers, smart RN's

    Cons

Long hours, rate of pay could be better

    Advice to Management

Be kind, not micromanage. Creating fear doesn't build trust or loyalty. It creates a mass exodus.. a lesson already learned

    Pros

Company Leadership cares about your success. Strong sense of commitment to company mission. Great benefits and relatively high pay for the area, depending on your position.

    Cons

High stress at times, and gratitude does not always accompany it. Be prepared to seek your own fulfillment out of your job, as the patients and fellow employees will often not provide it.

    Advice to Management

Your highly skilled professionals are well trained, but please don't forget about those who aren't so skilled. Adult sitters, for example, need actual training. Handing them a sheet talking about their duties and sending them to corporate training to talk about Oakwoods mission does not count, and woefully underprepares them to deal with at-risk patients alone. The nursing staff often doesn't have time to entertain their questions, and they're left scratching their heads and acting on best judgement at times, which could lead to disaster.
