I have been working at Oakwood Worldwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay and fine co-workers.

    Cons

Technology is so far behind with little or no leadership at the top. Programs are 20+ years old and existing management has no clue on how to move forward. Hopefully with the buyout IT can progress or be taken over by Singapore HQ.

    Advice to Management

With a new leader - a critical eye to Technology to help the Sales Team sell.

I worked at Oakwood Worldwide full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Could be a great Company.

    Cons

seniority vs performance. seniority wins everytime. Open door policy is trap. I lost my job after going to my supervisors boss explaining how difficult the person was to work with. Instead of looking at ones positive performance at work they were constantly looking for small or unimportant errors or faults, especially in order to criticize unnecessarily. The department I worked had a complete lack of organization and management. My advice Don’t waste your time at Oakwood and start looking for a job at another company with better management.

    Advice to Management

    People Leave Managers, Not Companies

    Pros

Howard Ruby is an amazing man. He created an amazing company with a strong sense of family and commitment to each other.

    Cons

Lack of strong management, confusing vision, stopped caring about the people and only focused on the bottom line. It's become an "us and them" company with no commitment to the employees, no sense of family.

I worked at Oakwood Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The office staff was great loved everyone. Very hard workers. Great place to get your foot in the door to learn about property management. As long as you some customer service most likely will be hired.

    Cons

The turn over is insane in my two year there I saw about 8 to 10 people come and go. There is absolutely no room to grow at all. There is a lot of nepotism that goes on in this office. A lot of the employees are unhappy and over worked

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees give raises. Follow seniority when promoting. Be honest with your employees. When not honest employees lose trust in you.

    Pros

Fellow ' Associates' are amazing and the main reason this company offers outstanding service!

    Cons

no accountability for leads, supervisors and managers. Worthless employees are never addressed, evaluated and/or let go. You will be hired for one position and do work for many other positions and or departments with NO compensation. Lucky to get 2% raise every 1-2 years. Currently restructuring Domestic business and have let go of many great . long term associates. Could this have something to do with the partnership formed in 2014 with Mapletree Group? All US acquisitions since then are Mapletree owned and Oakwood branded. Very concerned for all current Oakwood employees in the United States.

. Current restructuring implemented is causing adverse actions and reactions!

    Advice to Management

Address problem employees so that all do not believe nothing will ever be done to them for just showing up to collect a paycheck. Reward employees for job well done since organization does not realize this needs to be done for lowest paid employees as well as upper management.

    Pros

there's a parking lot for employees

    Cons

    employees aren't empowered
older building in HQ is beyond depressing and oppressive
    everything is micromanaged
they don't want smart people, they just want managers to act like secretaries and do assigned tasks
no training or help to succeed
    supervisors have no management skills

    Advice to Management

Oakwood is broken big time. Most miserable experience I've ever had at a company.

    Pros

Company is not a bad company.

    Cons

the management is very very disorganized. The management is promoted by how many years they are with the company and not by the skill set needed.

    Advice to Management

listen to the employee's and their comments.

    Pros

Pretty good entry level position. Don't expect to be there more than a year.

    Cons

This company hires a batch of new guest service reps. every 6 - 8 months because they can not keep employees. If you do make it over a year, everything that you do will be used against you even if you are not doing anything wrong. Very unprofessional management team.

    Advice to Management

Try evaluating your managers as many times as you do the GSR. Maybe you can figure out who, has no clue.

    Pros

They are the biggest in their industry. Not the best just the largest

    Cons

Lack of intelligent leadership. Confuses technology with innovation. Repackages old ideas with new titles to portray thought leadership

    Advice to Management

Leave and bring in someone that realizes you are a hospitality company not a commodity. Your biggest asset used to be your people but the best have gone to the competition

I worked at Oakwood Worldwide full-time

    Pros

Great co-workers, location, awesome flexible hours

    Cons

Management is horrible. Double standards on all rules. Too many cliques. No communication between process flows causing processes to be inefficient. Management never gets to the root of the problems. Account Coordinators sell and sell but yet we couldn't collect. Would never go back to this company. Supervisor was more concerned on how you spend time when you're not at work, then how you perform at work.

    Advice to Management

Use Root cause analysis. Hire only those who are qualified and only promote those who are qualified.
