I worked at Oasis Petroleum full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

9/80 schedule, benefits, bonus/stock when the company is doing well

    Cons

    Pay is below market.
Every department will work you like a dog. If you're not working OT, you're not working enough. With that being said, you will get experience to do many things that you may not at another company. So, you decide if it's worth it or not.
I also echo what others have said about terrible middle management due to promotions of favorites, this company has a long way to go.

    Advice to Management

Manage your managers better. Pay fairly, not just your favorites.

    Pros

It was a great company to work for.

    Cons

There are no cons, great company. Work got slow, so they had mandatory layoffs. Would work for them again.

I worked at Oasis Petroleum (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Small company so no bureaucratic problem for any decision.
    2. Direct contact with management people

    Cons

    1. Most people working there very conservative, they don’t talk each other, unfriendly and gloomy atmosphere.
    2. Racist working environment (99% white people)
    3. Minimum job security, they Lay off based on skin color, doesn’t matter how well you doing.
    4. They do not maintain any technical/design/environmental standards.
    5. Very unsafe working environment in plant site (North Dakota)
    6. No training and no career development opportunity.

    Advice to Management

Top management needs to monitor Managerial Level Persons. Some Manager is badly treating the junior level employee. Those managers are super racist in attitude.

    Advice to Management

-Focus on what employees are doing right rather than issues that are coming up from over worked.
-people that are overworked and overwhelmed are going to make mistakes, try to help them by getting them help.

    Pros

9/80 schedule is the only pro, some people are nice to work with

    Cons

Micromanagement, buddy promotion, office politics, good people were let go, definitely not recommended, will leave when oil price goes back up.

    Advice to Management

Be careful of hiring/promoting middle management personnel, have a 360 degree performance review, get rid of the bad apples (the bad middle management).

    Pros

Decent pay, Great place to learn and gain experience.. Executives have a very good log term plan for the company.

    Cons

Terrible upper management, promotions are based on buddy system and not on ability. Also if you come from a school that they don't like you don't get promoted and you get a lower salary than peers.

    Advice to Management

stop handing out promotions to drinking buddies, select people based on experience and leadership ability. Hold people acountable.
