I have been working at Oberthur Technologies part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some absolutely amazing people working at OT.
Work is fairly easy, lots you can learn, some growth potential, decent wages for a short term gig.

    Cons

but the company philosophy does not tend to look after the individual
Wages are less than they should be in the financial industry
Production floor is full of allergens
Third shift is like the red headed step child, always forgotten except when something goes wrong, then always blamed. Secrecy on if someone is being looked at for an internal position.
Don't plan to stay long because the skeletons come out of the closet the liver you stay.
There is a revolving door of employees, not a great business model, especially for the industry

    Advice to Management

If you say that a temporary employee is eligible for permanent after 6 months, actually evaluate them and let them know at that point. Communication needs to improve. Your secrecy has lost so many excellent employees. For permanent employees, give them actual raises each year. $0.17 /hour is NOT an actual raise, especially if that is what happens year after year. You will not be keeping employees long, especially not new hires. Considering the secure nature, you should care more about employee retention, particularly in your production departments ... The departments that get the least care now.

I worked at Oberthur Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people you work with, they are like family.
Steady paycheck, always paid on time.
A lot of areas to gain experience.

    Cons

The people you work with, they are like family. Family is not always pleasant.
Pays enough to keep you, but not enough to live life fully.
Constant schedule changes, making employees take vacation time when "slow", but then ordering mandatory overtime a week later.
Not much room for growth, salary caps are too low, no exceptions for cost of living. You can be working there for 10 years with no merit increase.

    Advice to Management

Stop ruling by fear. Get organized and get paperwork to your employees on time. Be more professional. Stop making people take vacation time one week, then making them work overtime the next week.

mandatory over time too often scheduled on short notice.

I have been working at Oberthur Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The place is an air conditioned facility that produces millions of credit cards for global companies each week.

Work is typically steady, and the working culture is mostly positive

    Cons

Working hard against unionization. Short sighted management. Will hire temps and then keep them as temp workers for a year plus only to fire them at the first sign of business slowing.

Morale is low when work is slow.

    Advice to Management

Stop acting like there are short term solutions to long term problems.
