    Cons

Contractors are not appreciated; The people there have known each other for years and they stick together and are not very welcoming or friendly to new comers

    Pros

Good benefits. Interesting process. Relevant to field of study.

    Cons

Supervision does not provide timely feedback to employee which can result in being blindsided at review, can provide favorable treatment towards other employees, and does not communicate honestly to management about timeliness of employee feedback. Also, making references to employee skin tone is not an acceptable business practice.

    Advice to Management

Ensure newly hired engineers properly accommodate by assigning them to a specific area so they can learn the plant and processes, provide timely feedback to employees to ensure goals are being met, and hold supervisors accountable when they do not follow company protocol, and when their delegation is unethical and unprofessional.

I worked at Occidental Petroleum full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Oxy offers an attractive benefits package.

    Cons

CEO is determined to break-apart & sell company assets piecemeal to preserve the divid. Nobody's job is safe.

Management is busy enriching themselves at expense of the line-workers.

Company is top-heavy with directors and VPs. Too many chiefs; not enough indians.

Don't trust what management says; watch what they do.

Morale among rank-and-file is low and getting worse.

    Advice to Management

    Resign. Leave.
