    Pros

Happy with management. Pay and benefits are great.

    Cons

The facility is a little run down and perhaps too small for the size of the operation. But this only minimally affects my day-to-day work

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Ocean Beauty Seafoods full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working with some of the BEST co-workers ever! We got along both at work and outside of work! I really do miss these guys!

    Cons

The pay was not the greatest, neither was the raises. But I think that was mostly on one manager! He didn't care to much for the females! So glad they got rid of him! (But after I left)

    Advice to Management

Make sure you listen to your employees when asking about upper management. When 3/4 of the staff says there is an issue with one in particular, there is!

    Pros

If you work during peak production (ie Salmon Season) you can work for hours upon hours. I was provided with room and board free of charge, but I know others who had to pay $15/day. It depends on the location you start at and the contract you sign.

The work was hard, but the people you work with are what gets you through. There is a sense of comradery among employees and everyone looks out for each other. I loved my co-workers and still keep in touch with many.

If you work hard, you can be promoted from the standard position of processor.

Pay is fair, overtime is great, and sometimes you get more overtime hours than regular hours.

    I would work here again.

    Cons

Communication between management and processors could be better, especially concerning what hour we are expected to work until when work becomes less regular, though it is understandable since it fluxes depending on if boats arrive.

You will be exhausted from the sheer amount of hours and bored from the repetitive nature of the work. A good attitude and a sense of humor is a must to get through this. It is a challenge, but personally rewarding to see what you are capable of.

Hours can be unpredictable in the beginning and end of a season.

    Advice to Management

Let your employees talk more, it is what helps us get through the arduous hours. It wakes up our brains, makes us more productive, work safer, and feel happier. In most cases, it is not a distraction since the work is fairly simple.

I worked at Ocean Beauty Seafoods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Overtime is possible for some employees, so you could possibly make a ton of money.

    Cons

Multiple, consecutive 20+ hr long days are not only expected, but required, meaning that employees are required to sleep less 4 hrs a night for weeks on end. Hours are not always equally distributed, so some people leave without making very much money. Plant, messhall, and bunkhouse are not up to code/in good condition. Many employees get shuffled around because the management does not like them. Some of the work is really physical and leads to many injuries (although some of the work is easy and not physical at all).

    Advice to Management

Be better connected with employees. Give more consistent breaks. Make sure there is actually food/meals available, especially for long shifts.

    Pros

I really wanted this job to work and I was really heartbroken to not being given a fair chance.

    Cons

Management is not honest, but the other workers and the customers were great!

    Advice to Management

    Be honest people!

    Pros

Ocean Beauty is a large company with great communication from the top down and bottom up. Management is willing to consider and implement new ideas. The executive team knowledgable. Ocean Beauty isn't just a company, it's a family. Kyaking on Lake Union during lunch hours. And they catch some really good fish (not in Lake Union though).

    Cons

There aren't any cons unless you don't like to be challenged to think differently and work hard.

    Advice to Management

Make the weather better in Seattle so we can go kyaking during lunch more.
