I have been working at Ocean County College part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - pays more than some community colleges
    - some people I've met are nice.
    - a select group of students really care and make it kinda worth it
    - freedom to teach

    Cons

    - minuscule room for career or salary growth, no benefits whatsoever. The secretary and the janitor makes more than someone with a graduate degree.
    - work varies every single semester
    - many students don't want to be there at all
    - mandatory meetings and administrative tasks have been added to the job
    - full-time faculty steals classes (and hence, money) from adjuncts
    - online courses are a complete joke and a money-making scheme

    Advice to Management

Morale is so low about adjuncts that it transfers to their teaching, which transfers to the students, who then question why they're wasting their time and money here. Enrollment will lower and I would not be shocked if the school faces a financial crisis or goes completely online.

    Pros

Descent pay & excellent benefits. Weekends off. Some good students. Beautiful campus.

    Cons

Upper management is terrible. They lie and make arbitrary rules.
Many other co-workers are miserable due to the past and no contract.
Faculty are bitter towards the president and board of trustees.
Most lecturers hate working over the summer and are always looking for other jobs.
Too many courses offered online which takes away from face to face classes and faculty' ability to teach 200 level courses.

I have been working at Ocean County College (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good boss, great working environment, very high pay compared to other similar positions nearby. And this requires 20 words so I am still typing

    Cons

Not really many cons to be said. O C C is a good place to work with great people and a nice pay rate.

They are a 50 years old community college

I have been working at Ocean County College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pretty flexible, not rigid. The people are nice and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I enjoy working here and teaching the students.

    Cons

Lack of oversight. You are pretty much on your own, and learn everything through trial and error. The pay is not great, but it is a nice part time job.

    Advice to Management

There is a lack of oversight for adjuncts. Higher pay would be great.
