I worked at Oceans of Fun - Worlds of Fun part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good for seasonal/summer job, make some good friends and getting into the park for free is a bonus.

    Cons

Understaffed and overworked, minimal to no work-life balance. Zero communication when it comes to anything. Incredibly WAY too stressful for a job that pays so little. Hard to advance up and even if you make it to a supervisor position, then what? There's nowhere to go after that.

I have been working at Oceans of Fun - Worlds of Fun part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The schedule is really flexible, you can basically make it what you want it to be as long as you are active about communicating it. They have good benefits (free tickets, discounts, employee only parties, etc). The people that you work with are usually friendly and help the day go by quicker.

    Cons

The days can be long and boring on days where not many guests come, and can also be crazy when guests are flooding the park. The pay is decent, but not great.

You often are dealing with the worst types of people, whether it be the guests or your coworkers, there are some real characters you will have the pleasure of interacting with.

I have been working at Oceans of Fun - Worlds of Fun part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-I needed a summer job since I couldn't work during the school year since I was in college so it was the perfect amount of time to work. -Starting pay is $10.25. -If you want to work a lot of hours, this is the place. If you want to work just a few, be open about it. They are typically pretty understanding unless you tell them about a conflict at the last minute. -The first aid training is some of the BEST out there. Take it seriously though because you WILL be using it. -You will have the satisfaction of saving lives. -The employees can be awesome! This can be a hit or miss though with some. The lifeguards like to be very close and get to know each other personally as friends. Sometimes this can be cliquey though.

    Cons

-A lot of people that work here are pretty young and it can seem pretty "drama-filled" -They will work you a LOT if you aren't upfront about the shifts you want to work. They have honored the time off I have needed every year, but let them know in advance. Try to input your entire summer schedule into WhenToWork before you start working or you will be worked a lot. -Overtime is obtained after 54 hours because it's a "seasonal job". It's kinda BS, but that's just the way it is there (parkwide rule). -It can be highly stressful because you will ALWAYS have to watch the pool because you WILL save lives. -Your first aid license only lasts 1 year. -Staffing can be short on some days and you may get sent to other areas. Get to know everyone, it will definitely make your experience a lot better.
