    I have been working at Octopus full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    There are some wonderful people at octopus They pay for training Almond milk Lots of alcohol Decent work life balance Close to a gym and has a canteen

    Cons

    There is a lot of internal politics and nepotism when it comes to upper management. They are not supportive and there is little to no real opportunity for growth. In some cases management actively placing barriers. If you get promoted you have to wait for a review period before your salary will be increased, without back pay. There is loads of free drinks etc with a good work life balance because there is little else the company really offers. Managers seem to be lazy and since having been promoted don't do anything related to their role and definitely have different rules for their favourites. Some colleagues will actively stab you in the back as it is the only way to get any advancement, these issues get addressed months later by management

    Get some people who know how to actually managed and actually create a structured opportunity platform because it is completely up in the air at the moment

    I have been working at Octopus full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Incredibly bright colleagues who are always happy to assist. A very entrepreneurial, almost startup-esque feel to the place. Colleagues very open with one another through regular feedback (positive and developmental) Genuinely friendly and down to earth colleagues who are incredibly social.

    Cons

    A frustrating habit of not quite getting the little things right. Lack of communication between divisions on issues that wil cause impact. Poor at making staff aware of internal opportunities (projects/secondments/jobs etc)

    Advice to Management

    Ensure that as the company grows (which it inevitably will) you retain the strong culture that is currently present. This will mean continuing to not compromise on staff quality and managing the under-performers and bad eggs. Make sure that all areas of the business are open and communicating to one another. HR must do better in advertising and encouraging individuals to take advantage of internal roles. There is a very heavy reliance on the individual to forge their own career path, with limited guidance.
