I worked at Octopus full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good culture open to new ways of working and putting the customer first. Good opportunities for personal development and growth.

    Cons

Wellbeing scores are low because people's workloads are too high. Senior management skirt around the issue because they don't want to commit to spending more money on staff. Therefore you have to commit to long hours to get the work done including evenings and weekends.

    Advice to Management

Don't loose good people due to stress or burn out. Hire more staff.

    I worked at Octopus

    Pros

I spent many very fulfilling years at Octopus, working with many people across the business. The culture is one of openness and transparency, and good ideas and feedback are always welcomed. The regular feedback sessions run by the CEO, for which all employees attend, encourage everyone to have a voice.

    Cons

Org structure has changed so much, due to the company's rapid growth. Octopus needs to keep on top of this, and ensure that the right management structure continues to be in place as the company grows.

    Advice to Management

Hire more senior women. While I am confident the directors believe in, and want to encourage, a diverse and non-discriminatory environment, some of the senior management team clearly are more "old school" and do discriminate. This needs acknowledging and acting on as an imperative.

I have been working at Octopus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Young Innovative Company Constantly looking for ways to improve Ambitious Value Staff and their opinions Great environment to work in Feel developed

    Cons

Staff can get involved in many lengthy projects, that may not make it through to completion. Lengthy Interview process (hang in there you will get there). Because the company is involved to so many new thing may feel a little disjointed at times.
