Selling to Gentiva was the begining of the end for good hospice care. the pts. And families were no longer the focus.

    Pros

Most rewarding work I ever did.I made a differance every time I put on those scubs.I worked there 7 years as a crisis care lpn and loved it...until gentiva threw us away.

    Cons

Gentiva has NO CLUE how to provide hospiceor how to work as a team.Never should have sold to them

    Solid Reputation

    Pros

Corporate leadership team is very down to earth and friendly. Keep busy, play as a part of the team, and be accountable and you will go far.

    Cons

Small stuff that was annoying - LOTS of busy work. Accountability software takes a giant chunk of time, which is expected to be done on your own time. Expense reports were not very streamlined.

    Pros

They are the most professional medical service that I have ever known

    Cons

Sometimes there are a lot of patients on Crisis care and sometimes you may not have a patient for a week or two at a time.

    Cons

Good place for part time work.

    Pros

My experience here was pleasant. The staff was cooperative. The position allowed for a lot of flexibility.

    Cons

The compensation was decent but the mileage reimbursement arrangements for PRN were not the best. The company is now under new ownership. Perhaps this is no longer a concern.

I used to love going to work each day, now not so much

Apr 11, 2012 - CNA in Ocala, FL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    My Patients and some co-workers

    Cons

Mgt. does not stand behind their employees. Lots of broken Promises. Mgt. runs from confrontation, questions, and employees in general. Mileage, pay, not in line with other local companies. It's all about the numbers and profit, and to hell with the people who make that happen. Some of the Nurses have no business working with Hospice Patients with lack of compassion and experience. Weed out the Bad Apples and let us do our jobs and use our knowledge and training. CSR's ride the clock and we see it but, they are allowed to continue doing it.

    Odyssey

Nov 13, 2013 - PCS, Community Liaison in Austin, TX

    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The best reason to work for Odyssey is the service that they provide for people in the end states of their life.

    Cons

They are a corporation and forever making staff and policy changes. There does not seem to be any consistency.
