I worked at Odyssey Hospice full-time

    Pros

Great friendly staff. Working with patients and learning their stories. Knowing that you are providing comfort to someone at the end of their life.

    Cons

Can feel over worked at times. Sometimes low on staff.

    Advice to Management

Make it a 10 patient max per hospice aide. This will help reduce stress, and allow people to enjoy their experience on your team.

I have been working at Odyssey Hospice (More than a year)

    Pros

Enjoyed the clients I worked with and the city the company was located in. Many of my colleagues were deeply invested in the work of hospice and assisting patients and their families.

    Cons

Left because the company was bought by a larger conglomerate who changed the parameters of my job description. New duties included those I believed to be unethical and incompatible with the position of a liaison, and the new company was intractable in discussions regarding the questionable duties.

    Advice to Management

It's important to know that the most valuable asset a company holds is its employees. They are hired for the multiple talents and abilities they bring to the company and should be respected regarding their fields of expertise.

    Pros

Most rewarding work I ever did.I made a differance every time I put on those scubs.I worked there 7 years as a crisis care lpn and loved it...until gentiva threw us away.

    Cons

Gentiva has NO CLUE how to provide hospiceor how to work as a team.Never should have sold to them

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about just profit and worry about the patients and families. Provide the best care out there like Odyssey did and the profits will come. Care for your staff and they will work their hearts out for you. Go back to running this company the way Odyssey did, with care and compassion, like a family. Gentiva knew nothing about hospice and it showed when they took over. Staff morale droppedllike a rock. Patient care suffered because Gentiva never cared about staff or patients and it showed. The pride I felt for my company turned to dismay at the lack of support the employees recieved from corporate. It broke my heart to see the greatest company I ever worked for flush it's self away.
