I worked at Off Broadway Shoes part-time

    Pros

really great shoe discount, somewhat flexible hours. You get great customer service experience. This job is great for high school students

    Cons

My manager lacked emotional intelligence and felt that it was a normal practice to chide and berate. Certain store policies do not make sense, and the company is really cheap and aims to have sales associates responsible for cleaning the store (heavy duty cleaning, not just cleaning up after messy customer) instead of hiring a professional cleaning management

    Advice to Management

Hire a new manager, invest in management training. The better the manager is, the more sales associates will go above and beyond to increase sales.

    Pros

Easy and repetitive work. Management will recognize those that do outstanding work.

    Cons

Management was a mess. A constant rotation of managers and assistant managers. Minimum wage for all part time sales associates.

    Advice to Management

Pay part time sales better to improve the quality of customer service that will be provided.

I worked at Off Broadway Shoes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a job and a paycheck.

    Cons

When you are hired as salaried management, you are told the minimum hours is 45 weekly. However, the reality and expectation is 60 hours plus due to workload and low payroll. Poor planning and communication from the office. When you want to express your concerns and suggestions, you are advised not to because it will be detrimental to your career. They stress customer service is the number one priority, but they do everything possible to keep you away from the customer and making sales. The company is not making a profit so they have cut the tools and training needed in the field. They decided to do BOGO like their sister company Rack Room Shoes to gain more profit/sales by marking up the shoes 40% to 100% over the original cost essentially eliminating the employee discount. They think the customers havent noticed the mark up on their shoes, especially the loyal customers. But they do, which equals low sales. So why work at Off Broadway Shoes? Over worked, unappreciated, can't be heard, they don't care, no employee discount. So why work here? To get a pay check.

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to be involved with how a store runs, before they can make any decisions that affect the stores and their customers. Remember the most important part of a company is your employees. Happy employees equal dollars.
