Working for Off Duty Officers, Inc.
Dec 6, 2022 - Security GuardRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Working for ODO for the past couple years has been great. I have worked for other companies where they treat you like a number, but ODO treats you like a person and not a number. They care about your health and well being. They are flexible with schedules, understanding of other responsibilities ex. child care issues and will work with you to give you a schedule that fits your needs. They always pay on time, every week and plenty of opportunities for advancement. The family environment makes you feel part of something greater than yourself, part of the team.
Cons
Only con is located in Vista, CA, not centrally located. Although not centrally located they work with you if you need things like uniforms, patches etc. and will have it either mailed to you or a supervisor bring to you while working.

Get out what you put in
Dec 7, 2022 - Security Guard in San Diego, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible scheduling if you work on call or part time. Pay is usually pretty good. They have work all over California if you travel or move. They issue gift cards if you do a good job and get a compliment.
Cons
Sometimes it's hard to get a schedule that works for you or assignments might be far but that's because security is all based on contracts. Advancement opportunities are limited depending on where you live

Good Afternoon, I'm sorry to hear you had a poor experience working for ODO. Contrary to this report, ODO offers the highest wages in the industry (based on averages). Pay is generally assignment specific, and we are very upfront about the offered wage. All schedules and shifts must be accepted by the employee. ODO does not issue mandatory schedules or rates for any shift. Thank you ODO Management

Good Morning, Thank you for your positive review! Approved leave is limited from Black Friday - Jan. 2nd of each year and is considered a "blackout" period. We may approve requests for time off during this timeframe, however this generally applies to requests received at least 3 months in advance. Feel free to reach out to our corporate office should you have any further questions about holidays. Thank you, ODO Management (760) 509-4817

A little company with big issues
May 5, 2018 - Site Supervisor in San Diego, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Pay is in time and accurate.
Cons
The Field Supervisors (Captains) are young people who are not leaders. Pay is low. Uniforms are the cheapest I've encountered. Company culture is weak.

Pros
not much, you gotta pay for your own uniforms
Cons
bad management who deceives clients with guards posing as fake cops

Director of Operations
You may be confusing us with another organization. ODO does not, and has never charged its employees for uniforms. Employees are welcome to provide their own uniforms if they meet our criteria, and we will provide the required insignia (patches) for the employee to install. However, uniforms are always provided free of charge upon request. Thank you, ODO Management
