I have been working at Office Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The job is easy once you get use to it.Quiet atmosphere and friendly co workers.

    Cons

The pay and hours suck. For the amount of work they want you to do, the pay isnt worth it. The internet sucks-the registers lag.when you clock in it takes forever. They want you to upsale or sale like 3-4 products when you are checking them out.For ex: they want youu to sale some pens that sit at the register that are $2 and you get 5 cents added to you check..SUPPOSELY.You are understaffed and will almost never get a break.the average amount of people that work in the store a day is 3 per shift :3 morning and 3 closing. One on print and copy, one person on register, and a manager...but when the store get backed up there is no one to help with line becuase the manager is helping someone on the floor amd print amd copy always have their own long line. Also working print and copy is.dreadful you are over there by yourself with impatient unprepared customers. The self serve machines go out every other day but customer are too stupid to use it anyway. It becomes a mess over there. Also, you dont get proper training for print and copy. They pretty much just tell you where the machines are and you pretty much have to figure it out yourself from there like making banners, business card, fliers etc and that stuff takes time and shoukd be a pre order or request but customers would walts right in and expect 200 fliers done in 2 seconds. The line get ridiculous on both ends. When there is only 3 people in the store there is no one to help back up the lines.Oh and if someone calls off you are out of luck! The pay sucks, you have to know every position in the store:recovery, uboat, cashier, tech services, online pickup for the same pay. Also with my store the closing cashier has to vacuum the front end and furniture area, sweep, amd mop the whole store and clean the bath rooms. The job is okay but moping the whole store, for 40 cents above minimum wage? IF I wanted to be a janitor I wouldve applied for a job with that title. This job is great for teenagers. Not for someone who else serious bills to pay.Trust me,you will go hungry amd starve til death if this was your only source of income.

    Advice to Management

Increase the starting wage, have more people working and where are the benefits? We have to work holidays, with no holiday pay?Why is an office store open on main holidays anyway?
