I have been working at Office Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexibility of creativity
Set procedures for taking orders and organization
Metrics available to all associates to track success and goals

    Cons

Office Depot seems to use a lean staffing perspective, absolutely bare minimum associates to fulfill customer orders and inquiries when needed. In addition, the majority of the training occurs while on the floor only when customers are scarce, which depending on the season can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Properly staff your stores, find people that are a bit more reliable in terms of shifts and attendance. When one section of the store suffers, all sections of the store suffer.

I have been working at Office Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule for students. Depending on your store manager, he might also be flexible for management positions. I had a great manager but unfortunately he got promoted.

    Cons

5 % commission that doesn't motivate employees to be loyal. Pay in Seattle city limits is good. Health coverage for full time $400 month. Managers are selfish with their own scheduling. Opening Mo-Fri and not working weekends. Little guy is stuck with crappy hours.

    Advice to Management

    Pay more wages.
