I have been working at Office Depot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you can handle the fast-pace and high level of stress, copy and print can be extremely fulfilling. There are hundreds of impatient, rude customers but the customers that you can really help are worth it, at least for me.

    Cons

In short, Office Depot is a mess. Corporate is constantly bending over backward to accommodate an increasingly awful customer base and they will push rewards sign-ups, ink subscriptions, DMS, and square trade until you are a mindless retail drone. If you are lucky enough to have a manager who understands that 1. most customers just aren't interested at all and 2. that most of the people who would sign up/buy the things that need to be pushed already have them, then it's survivable (do NOT confuse survivable with good, it is not good). If you're going to work here, I would suggest the following as the best to work types of jobs at ODOM: 1. Logistics - minimal customer involvement, you really can't go wrong there, 2. Management - you get the satisfaction of making slightly more than minimum wage and you can hide in the cash or managers office sometimes, 3. Copy & Print - you make a tiny bit more than cashiers, and the machines can't hurt you emotionally, 4. Tech Services - only above cashier because you don't have to stand there like a mindless drone, but you're going to have to scam some old people. Last and definitely least, 5. Sales/Cashier - customers are awful, understaffing means you likely won't get breaks, and your job is basically doing the same exact thing over and over and over and over again for hours, and then you get to clean up all the messes/disorganization in the store around closing time.

I worked at Office Depot part-time

    Pros

The store was never busy, so I was never really overwhelmed or overworked.

    Cons

Cleaning of public bathrooms is not something that most people who make minimum wage want to do. It was not disclosed to me in my interview. Was under-worked in terms of hours and only worked two days out of the first two weeks I was there.
