As a placement student, work that was more than just basic quality assurance and real analysis was limited, some office politics

      Pros

      Flex-time allows for flexible working.

      Cons

The promotion system is obscure and unfair. Performance management system seems to change every other month. Very Gradist (Your rank often dictates who's right in a situation). Managers just want to hear everything fine. Age and time served often dictates promotions. Agist environment. No thought as to resources required for projects and changes.

      Pros

Flexible working, great salary for South Wales, plenty of training opportunities. Not a ministerial department, so projects are fairly long-term in their execution.

      Cons

Unless you live in Newport or Cardiff, using public transport to get to the office is difficult. Car or bike is a must have.
