I worked at OfficeMax part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gained customer service skills. Gained print center skills. Was a good location for me. When I was hired, the store manager was a great person to work for. However, he left within a few months of my hire.

    Cons

Managers were ineffective at addressing issues with an assistant manager who consistently stole sales from other workers. She would put her name in on a "maxassurance" sale that others would make, thereby stealing their commissions. She would use her log-in and change the name on the sales in the manager's office.

    Advice to Management

Keeping employees who steal from others, manipulate coworkers, and alienate customers really harms morale.

    Pros

Good entry level starting place if you need a job. through to attending school. Ended up quiting because it was taking away too much time from school.

    Pros

Many good people, confused direction as CEOs came and went

    Cons

A fair amount of office politics

    Advice to Management

Should have bought Office Depot, not the other way around. OMX was in a good financial position and had strong management (except at the top)
