I have been working at OfficeMax full-time

    Pros

I had a little bit of management experience

    Cons

No cons for me really. I actually have fun doing my job although i thibk they should have a customer service desk and position for that.

    Advice to Management

Just do your job and always be on time. My goal was to become a manager when i was hired i the manager new that.

I worked at OfficeMax part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They paid higher than other retail jobs in the area. They also gave small raises every 6 months to 1 year. The district and regional managers often checked the stores to make sure everything was going well.

    Cons

They moved the Assistant Manager to hourly as opposed to salary shortly before merging with Office Depot. Like most retail places they emphasis upselling a little too much. Hard to get promoted though.

    Advice to Management

Overall management did pretty well. Management shares the same duties as regular associates, but they also have other responsibilities. It'd be nice if there was a bit more options to move up in position or gain more experience.

Stop making work out of work

    I worked at OfficeMax full-time

    Pros

The people that you work with are usually all on the same side trying to hit impossible goals and matrix on tiny aspects of the business throughout the day

    Cons

Upper management is terrible and this is a dying company with shrinking revenue and plans on closing over 300 stores over the next couple years.

  7. "Customers are horrible and morale is usually low"

    Pros

They have flexible hours, offer payed vacation to full time employees, as well as basic medical benefits and sick days too

    Cons

They often overschedule you for shifts longer than 8 hours, there are no breaks except a half hour lunch, customers are awful, and there is very little respect for copy and print.

    Advice to Management

More respect for CPD, stop allowing returns on print orders with customer signatures, and raise the wages to be competitive

    Cons

Slow and at times very boring. Not too many opportunities to move up the ladder.

I worked at OfficeMax part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked here during my time in high school, it was nice, the people I worked with were all ok. However, halfway through the management changed and they were annoying.

    Cons

Not very high pay and no likeliness of a raise.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you don't hire managers who suck

    I worked at OfficeMax part-time

    Pros

The work is very easy and has a not-insignificant amount of variety. Worked with some great people. Above average wage for student employment.

    Cons

Harsh hours (early morning, and occasionally through the night at busy times). You will never complete all work assigned to you.
