I worked at OfficeMax part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and very professional and friendly atmosphere between employees. Very well organized stores and warehouse. Nice and neat. Management works hard to achieve their goals.

    Cons

Difficult advance on career. Not much room for growth. Did not like the fact of not paying commissions on sales floor.

    Advice to Management

Maybe give some bonus for employees for motivation.
Better off with salary base plus commissions.

I worked at OfficeMax full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Depends on the store Manager. There are some good ones who push you to be better then there are others who you really don't care working for.

    Cons

Racism, and favoritism have run very rampant i this company now. Before when it was OfficeMax it was ok but now i don't really care for this job anymore. I have brought thousands of dollars to this company and they constantly come up with a bunch of ways and excuses to keep me from keeping my promotions. There is now people who been here less now make more money than me so of course I'm not gonna care about coming on time or working to the fullest anymore.

You can't treat your employees like crap and expect them to work beyond standards. They care more about how i look than about what i do. Also every time someone black who looks a certain way comes in the store they want me to follow them when most of their shrinkage came from white employees stealing. This job is becoming more like Walmart every single day. If that is the case then i might as well go back to Walmart, at least they pay more now!

They also have it where now they are trying to promote from outside, then how in the world you expect us to work hard when you are telling us there is no room for growth!

    Advice to Management

Treat your hard working employees with more respect and maybe you can get more out of them but then again this goes to ALL companies!
