I have been working at Officite full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Culture is one of the better ones I have seen with all the perks (lunches, breakfast, ongoing celebrations). The company makes an effort to engage employees through a vartiey of activities geared toward employee recognition and engagement. Opportunity to move to a different department and build your skillset.

    Cons

    Pay could be better.

I worked at Officite full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Its can offer some opportunities to work on challenging projects that can sharpen your skills - then you can leave the organization with those skills you've learned to earn much more.

    Cons

You're required to know Photoshop, HTML, CSS, and proper web design methodologies. Additionally you're expected to have a college degree in most cases. They are unable to compensate properly with these requirements. You'll be lucky if you can make 40k annually here - if you aren't senior or upper management or in sales.

    Cons

Do not work here. Nearly all of these reviews, positive and negative, make the same two points: - The pay is low - Not bad for new college grads The first is certainly true. You can find a number of jobs that pay more, regardless of your field (Web development, customer support, SEO), even in Downers Grove or any neighboring suburbs. This company relies on new grads still living with their parents who don't need to pay rent, and the salaries offered reflect that. "Not bad for new college grads" is a red flag. This company is a revolving door, most people work here for about a year or less. Any reviews describing good benefits and PTO were written by people who must not have had any other office job, because the benefits are acceptable at best. I actually pay less for better health insurance at my current job. The majority of the employees are new college grads with no other real office experience and are treated as such-- even though these positions are salaried, you have to clock in and out, and every move you make is closely watched. The workload is never-ending. Regardless of your field, your workload is a queue you will never catch up with. Finish 3 tasks, 5 more take their place. Because of this, management places arbitrary goals to make sure you're working 'hard enough.' These goals are often set by management that has never done that job, and thus have no idea what goal number would be realistic. Many people 'game' this system by going for the easiest tasks first to pad their numbers and make sure they hit this arbitrary goal. This leads to management, who only look at the numbers and haven't worked the job themselves and therefore don't fully understand the work involved, to give favoritism to these employees. This also leads to divides within departments, as employees scrap for the smallest and easiest tasks for the sake of numbers. This never-ending workload is caused by a combination of the office being severely understaffed & mismanaged. The office is understaffed because of the parent company, Internet Brands. Many, if not all, of Officite's issues as a company can be traced back to Internet Brands. Officite's product offerings are not of good quality, and for a tech company they are woefully behind on tech trends. But they make a profit, so Internet Brands sees no need to spend money to correct any of that. The same explains the understaffing. Officite is profitable at its current staff count, so why spend more to ease the employee work load? One final bit for Web Developers/aspiring web developers: This job is not web development, it's advanced customer support. For all intents and purposes, you will be working as a customer support rep in a call center. The only difference is your work requires a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, and you'll be on the phone a little less. For any new grads looking for starter web development experience: you won't find it here. Finding a new job was a huge struggle for me, as the experience gained here was almost completely useless in any actual front end web development position. You gain no experience with any front end frameworks, not even any real JavaScript experience- just HTML and CSS. Which is like learning Latin to get better at English. The pay here is embarrassing , you will be treated like a child, and no work you do will feel meaningful in any way. You owe it to yourself to work somewhere else.

It’s a revolving door. They pay low - average so it’s expected. Senior status individuals don’t give the respect you earn even after you prove yourself.

    I worked at Officite full-time

    Pros

Relaxed dress code, beginner experience. That's it.

    Cons

Attempts at new employee training turn into a "figure it out yourself" training model. Then, despite the lack of guidance, management constantly micro-manages and is quick to point out mistakes without offering help. Management claims they want feedback but refuses to change after nearly all the staff leave negative reviews during regular management surveys. Miscommunication between all of the departments. Miscommunication with clients on expectations. The favorited employees get to cut corners with their work, and hard workers are never compensated. No upward mobility, unless everyone above you quits and you get a managerial position. Overall, this company is bottom of the barrel marketing, doesn't care who comes and who goes, and refuses to take responsibility for their shady actions.
