I have been working at Ogilvy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The opportunity to work on some of the biggest brands in the world with some of the smartest people on the planet.

    Cons

Reviews are slow. 11th Avenue in the winter.

    Advice to Management

Understand that professional growth is just as important to the creative staff as it is to account. Creative people need professional training too.

    I worked at Ogilvy

    Pros

Free sunshine. Free view of New Jersey.

    Cons

No raises. Ever. No understanding or value of creatives or the creative process.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people like a commodity. Stop running it like an accounting firm. Stop taking on anti-creative clients and expecting the creative department to change them.

    I worked at Ogilvy

    Pros

If you're on a good team, it's a great place to work. There are definitely some smart, creative folks who work there but...

    Cons

There are definitely some jerks. The environment can be very competitive for no reason. Extremely uncollaborative. The work in general is extremely safe.

I have been working at Ogilvy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

CCO Chris G. really wants to make the work better, and is slowly elevating the creative.

    Cons

Dysfunction. Empty suits. Empty promises. No support. Faux empathy. Never any action taken to help its people.

    Advice to Management

Wake up, and take responsibility for your staff. Recognize the extreme morale problem and stop burying your heads in the sand.

    I worked at Ogilvy full-time

    Pros

This place is a great place to learn the tricks of the trade. The creative department is a great place to be.

    Cons

Work-life balance, like in any ad agency

    Advice to Management

Just see that your team is not burnt out to death

I have been working at Ogilvy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits, Great brands – you'll work on some of the biggest brands in the world. Great exposure to the grand agency idea. Lots of killer work for your book.

    Cons

Get what you want coming in. Don't expect a bonus unless your leadership level. You will get burnt out. They really chew you up here. Sometimes design is at best a tertiary thought.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your people, don't let the only raises be based on job offers from other companies. Leadership needs to remember the people in the trenches — which they don't.

I have been working at Ogilvy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Big company with big accounts and potential, no talent in US specially at the very top but there is some elsewhere in the global network.

    Cons

Creative talent/ambition in NY office non-existent - not an opinion, a fact: Ogilvy was top network at Cannes two years running with zero Lions/contribution from Ogilvy US. A glaring con.

    Advice to Management

New top management - particularly creative but not exclusively - desperately needed at Ogilvy US NOW! Perhaps Miles Young be more directly involved there?
