I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You work with Tier 1 clients (prestigious, Fortune 100 companies) directly for the CEO and CMO. The work is extraordinarily challenging and very rewarding. The firm competes with, and frequently beats, traditional consultancies such as McKinsey/Bain/BCG and Brand/Innovation consultancies such as IDEO/Millward Brown/Prophet. Employees are absolutely brilliant given how selective the recruiting process is. Everyone comes from impressive backgrounds, and have some of the best critical thinking and communication skills I have ever seen in my 15 years of consulting experience.

The hours can be long at times, but nowhere nearly as bad as traditional consultancies. Compensation is in line with other consultancies, while benefits are the same as the rest of O&M.

One thing to be clear: OgilvyRED is not just another department within an ad agency. It is a consultancy, staffed and run by consultants. The workload, engagement infrastructure, and culture will therefore probably be very different from the agency side. Do not come to OgilvyRED if you want the traditional agency experience.

    Cons

I hope management knows this by now. There needs to be more transparency and structure around career trajectories for employees (i.e. performance reviews, bonuses, etc.). You can’t keep on hiring people from other consultancies and expect them to stay for the long term if you don’t have the internal infrastructure to help them grow.

    Advice to Management

Hire some HR consultants and invest in develop an internal infrastructure to support career development and growth. I know OgilvyRED is only 4 years old, so I understand why this isn't in place yet, but you really can't go any longer without changing this.

I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There truly is no culture like Ogilvy's. When they say it's a family the mean it.

    Cons

That said, no family is perfect. Upward mobility in for title and salary can be a little tricky.
